To all those griping about the stuck up drivers and money munching series called Nascar.Me and my family used to watch Nascar religously and went to a few races. When we realised how fans were treated like lower class most of the time we decided to make a change. We started traveling to National Series dirt track events. You get the same experiances at these events as you do at Nascar.Theres allways a neighbor with his hand out to shake and meet you.Theres usually ten times better racing and more passing. For the younger crowd(Your as young as you feel.I like a little partying myself sometimes.)theres allways a party going on.Drivers are much more approchable. In 8 years we were never turned down for an autograph.
Just a quick story;A couple years ago at East Bay Winter Nationals,my wife had a deck of driver cards. She asked a driver called Scott James for his Autograph.Afterwords she knew one of the cards belonged to the pit next to him and asked him to point out that driver. He did so then asked to see the cards. He spent nearly an hour walking around with my wife in the pits and pointing out drivers so she could get autographs. He made fans for life in this family.
Give it a try sometime.I'll bet you wont be disappointed.
Heres a list of Santioning bodies for Dirt Latemodel racing. This is what we watch.http://www.chasinracin.com/sanctions/index.php?action=2&vtype_0=Dirt_Late_Model If you follow the link you can find other series like Big Block Modifieds or Winged Sprints. We watch Late Models because they use the same engines as nascar but on dirt.
Real racing is super late model dirt cars. 2450#,no engine size limits, you pick your tire compound, caution flag lamps do not count. If you ever saw Bloomquist,Smith,Boggs,Moran and 22 more of the best dirt drivers in the country, go at it for 100 laps on the high banks of Cherokee ,you saw the best racing there is.
I go to alot of sprint car races in central PA. The racing is better every year.I have never been to a NHRA event but I watch it every event that is on TV. Much more exciting you win or you lose.
