Saw that Bill Engvall (Here's your sign!) is coming to the Cheyenne Frontier Days at the end of July. Thought this would be a fun trip close to home (Denver).
DW wants someplace family friendly with full hookups. Went to www.rvparkreviews.com (as usual!) but not much there. Wellington KOA sounds nasty. Looking real close at the Ft.Collins/Lakeside KOA, much better reviews. Prefer NOT to stay in Cheyenne itself: It's gonna be a zoo with the rodeo in town.
Suggestions welcome!

If you are thinking of staying in Ft. Collins and driving to Cheyenne, check out Heron Lake RV park www.heronlakerv.com. This is really a beautiful park.
Well, I just checked out the website, and it appears this may now be a KOA campground, but still worth checking out.

We went to the Cheyenne Frontier Days two years ago and stayed at the same KOA you are referring too. My recollection was that it was about a 20 minute drive to the rodeo grounds. It worked really good for us and it was a decent place to stay. There was a pool and a small convenience store, and the staff was pretty friendly. The sites were not real big, but they were pretty level.
The Rodeo was a blast! We took our kids and they loved it. They really enjoyed the Midway and hanging out at the rodeo. I hope you enjoy your trip. That was one of our favorite places
Check out the KOA in Kimball Nebr! Great little RV park with superb owners. Quiet and off the freeway. Small store. Great Showers, and laundry. Very level roomy gravel sites
