This is why I am buying a yamaha 3000 next. I hate to say I ma spending 2000 for my dog but basically that is the big reason. I am even taking it a step further and building a box on rear. so it is easy to hook up and fire up when we want to go into somewhere for a couple hours. In july we could see 100 degrees in texas and will not take long for my great pryness to get very hot. And yes he goes with us on every camp out. I will say we want the generator anyway since we boondock out on the beach last year and plan on doing in the future. We also want to have this option if we want to stop and eat in the RV.

as for barking dogs there are things you can do to keep that from happening. we have one that will bark if she thinks someone is messing with things on the rv and we have a few tricks to keep her quiet.

1. keep the bedroom shades down so she can't see people moving around.
2. have a tv or radio on so she can't hear said people
3. the white noise from the fantastic vents or the a/c also helps mask the noise
4. when she does start to bark, Pete the parrot will yell "sophie no barking" and she will shut up.

so if you do some of these things and get a parrot to discipline your dog while you are gone you will have no problems with the neighbors.

We have an "A" so can leave the generator running with the a/c on. However, there is a full 3 gallon bucket of water in the RV and we have an automatic fan in the ceiling that is activated by a thermostat and leave a small window partially open in case the a/c quits and the temp rises. The dogs go everywhere with us - that's why we have the RV.

We too were teachers for 34 years. We had this same problem for years. We found a great solution. We retired! Now we travel in the spring and fall when the temperatures are nicer.
