We are spending days in our Tioga 26Q during home remodel activity.

The guy with the big flatbed truck asked me to move my rig out of the driveway so he could deposit the 15x8x8 storage pod there, didn't want to risk damage to to our Tioga. I hurriedly backed the rig out of the driveway forgetting to retract the Winegard batwing antenna and drove down the street, twaaanngg, rattle. Oh no!! caught it on a tree. When am I going to learn to use a red flag, etc.

Question: should I replace the Winegard bat wing antenna with the same analog VHF/UHF one or do I need to install a different antenna to work better with a digital converter box in the future? We plan to keep using the two 13" analog CRT TV's

We just removed ours to reduce overhead holes (it was in need of resealing. It sure made washing the roof safer and easier to keep clean as well. Dirt seemed top build up worse when it was down.

We have a bat wing on ours but had a satellite unit from Winegard installed.
As for your question, I think replacing it should work for you.

I don't think there is a digital antenna to replace the one you broke, but I'm not sure. I would imagine that a trip to CW (or visiting on-line) would answer your question. Since it seems you want to keep the antenna system, with your older TVs, I don't see any reason not to replace it. I'm gonna guess that Gale (above) wasn't using the antenna, if it was being removed.
Personally, I'd replace it.

And, get the red ribbon so you don't forget....just strap it onto the steering wheel.....

Can you just replace the broken part? You don't need a different antenna with the new digital converter, it will work fine.
The phone # for Winegard parts is 800 492-7736. I know the number much too well, high winds keep breaking parts on my satellite antenna.

Ric, thats why we went with Winegard RoadTrip #35044.
Its in a dome.
FWIW, use the red ribbon idea and tie the ribbon onto the crank for the antenna as a reminder.

Here's a current thread on the topic: Will old antenna work with the new digital tv boxes?

Bill we found we did not use ours really so that made it even harder to remember to lower. The only TV we had was in the dash and was funky. When I found the dash hole cover in the closet we just got a portable DVD system for movies and educational DVD's for the kids and tossed the old TV plus we have nice place for an inverter and to store a few things up front. They actually use the DVD system in the car more often then the MH anyway. We are either moving (hard to stay on a channel very long moving with that type of antenna) or out and about. Actually at the house we just use rabbit ears. With the price of fuel it would be cheaper to just watch TV in our case at home.

If I put the antenna up...I hang my keys from the crank...never driven off without lowering it...

I made up a label and stuck it on my instrument panel.

Emergency Brake Off!!!
Antenna Down!!!

It is white background with black lettering. The 1st part was because I kept forgetting to release the emergency brake before taking off.

Have a great time camping,
