Any suggestions...going from Chattanooga TN area to Tunica, MS. I-24 to 440, 40 west to Memphis, then down I55 to I69 to hwy 61 in MS. OR... Hwy 72 from Kimball, TN exit off I-24, then down into AL & west to MS.
The latter route shows less mileage, but that interstate bridge right at the Kimball exit.... I remember those warning signs with chains hanging down warning about the (lower???) height of the interstate bridge?

I go to Ark. several tims a year and I gog the 40 route thru Nashville. Good road. Stop for catfish in Nashville at Cock of the Walk. Happy Trails CharWan
From Memphis I would take 55 to the 69/304 exit 284 if I remember right just past it this afternoon, no way would I try to go 61 and go through all the traffic lights in Memphis. JMHO
BTW; if you do use 72 it will take you back to Memphis, don't know if 304 is connected all the way through from 72 to 78 just before the TN line, but is from 78 to 55 and 61, but still a lot of lights.
I haven't taken these exact roads, but have traveled a lot of the back roads of TN on the last couple of trips so take this advice with a grain of salt. Also consider that I'm adventurous enough that I love the scenery of back roads (including gravel) even with the 5vr in tow.
But, for a scenic route that shouldn't take much more time, I would take I24 over Mt Eagle to 64 west. Follow it over to Hwy 18 in Bolivar, pickup up Hwy 7 in MS, then grab Hwy 4 over to Tunica.
To prevent having to go over Mt Eagle, an alternative would be the 72 route over to Hwy 7.
Or a combination of Hwy 64 to Natches Trace down to 72.
I'm not sure about bridge height but have never had to worry about it on any decent size road, though I am only 11' 6".

I don't remember what the posted height of that underer pass is, but belive it is 13'6"-14'. There is just to much truck traffic on US-72 for it to be under 13'6" We've been under it several times, but were only 12'3" If you chose to go the US-72 route be sure to take I-575 thru Huntsville and then 72A thru Decatur, lots fewer lights
If you take the first route, it will be interstate all the way. I-69 is new and you can exit by Grand Blvd (Hwy 304/Harrah's) or Casino Strip (used to be 304/Sams Town). You will be well out of Memphis and high traffic area. You will be around the casinos, just watch the signs so you go in the right direction to the CG of your choice.
I-40 to the Tunica Exit (Ex 7 or 8) is major congestion with trucks, avoid if possible. I would drive a longer distance to avoid this area. Plus, you have to travel down Hwy 61 thru high traffic area.
