just replaced (3) deep cycle batteries. charger is boiling the new batteries; admitedly I did top off with some distilled water and prob. a wee bit too much, but... they were new off the shelf. I went in and stepped down the charge to 5 and hope that's the ticket. I really think it's why I only got 18 mos. out of these batteries the first time. Engine batteries seem to be fine.
this is an '07 Winne Tour. Any similar experiences.

I bet you have the famous Dimensions inverter/charger...corect! There is a problem with some of these as they won't go into float mode. Check the voltage on the display it should say 13.2 volts float, if not contact Dimensions.

Do you have, or have you recently installed a Shurflo Ceiling Exhaust Vent Fan? If so, I can explain why you have this problem... and how to solve it.

When I purchased my TS the inverter/charge was set to high and had cooked the batteries when I bought the coach 18 months old. I don't know if the previous owner messed with the settings or if it came from the factory that way. There is a chart in my owners manual for setting the charger for the total amp hours of your batteries. Mine was set on almost double, way to high. After replacing the batteries and setting the charge to the proper charging rate, the batteries are now 4 years old and still going strong.

I've purchased 3 used motorhomes in the last 5 years and every single one of them had the wrong battery type selected on the Xantrex inverter/charger. The OP doesn't give us any info as to the type of inv/chg he has but if it is Xantrex and the charge setting he talks about lowering to 5 is in fact the "Power Share" setting then it does nothing to vary the charge profile. I guess we need a little more detail to be of any real help.

OK, I read it and it does not apply to this situation. You were dealing with a Magnetek 6300 linear converter(just a guess), this is a inverter/charger, totally different animal.
