So are you stating that the 5.7X8 tires will not fit on my stock 4.800X8 rims?

Well larger tires would not clear fenders so just bought 4.8-8 tires for $19 but most shops want $10 each to mount them!!! Should I just return the tires and buy the alreayd mounted tires on rims for $28? Or should I attempt to dismount the old tires and mount the new tires on my original wheels myself??? How hard is this?

It will be very hard to mount those small tires. A few years ago I was looking for tires for my snowmobile trailer. They are 5.70 x8", all the tires I found were load range "C". I had bought some discount store tires that were load C and they blew out in 2 years. I went to the local tire store and it seemed all they had was the same thing. After going around in circles on tires another counter guy came up and started looking and found a load range "D" tire that was rated for 100psi and 1050 pounds. Those tires cost $45 for the tire and rim They have more tread than the discount ones and have been as good as gold

Well I guess I will return the 4 ply tiresI got and get the mounted ones. They did offer 6 ply tires mounted but the tread depth was the same. My 4X6 utily trailer will rarely see anything loaded in it I can't pick-up by myself. But at highway speed I guess it is good to havetwo extra plys to the tires to help with blow outs.

Anyone from New England and know who other that Wally World has pre-mounted 4.8-8 tires on rims. The Wal-Mart ones don't have much meat on the treads!

Well got some 6 ply pre-mounted from VIP autoparts. New tires are working well but one tire the center rib has already formed uneaven wear pattern in one spot. bearing are greased up well, and it rotates freely with no noise??

I replaced the 8" tires on my ATV trailer with the 12" tires, but I went a step further and installed steel belted automotive tires that normally come on tiny cars. They're much wider than the 12" trailer tires, will carry a heavier load and are a lot less likely to blowout. I did have to raise my fenders to give more clearance.

Well an old timer saw my small trailer and said that my tires were wearing so fast cause i was driving at highway speeds with a unloaded trailer? Said the tires skip and skate with no weight on them at 55 MPH?? Said I should put our lugage and stuff we take down to CT in the trailer not the trunk to keep the wear down on the tires? Can he be correct?
