We are going to head up to Minnesota and would like to hear some recommendations on places to camp. We would like to be on a lake or close to it for fishing. We have a 44 foot motorhome which is a problem we know, but we are hoping folks out there have found a great place regardless of how long your rig is. We don't need all the amenities, just clean, wide camp sites with a minimum of 30amps.
We stayed at Dakotah Meadows RV Park last year. It was fine. It has it's issues (the spaces are alternating so you are face to face and back to back.) We enjoyed our stay, however it was not on the lake. Though, MN is the land of 10,000 lakes, so there is a lake just about everywhere. LOL!
You did not say what part of MN you were going to. Pretty big state.

The only MN campground we've stayed at on the water is Pla-Mor CG in Winona, MN, and that was 4 years ago. It's right on the Mississippi River. Not sure if they could accommodate your MH; Pla-Mor used to be a KOA and KOA's were never noted for their spacious sites. Other than that and the famous MN mosquitoes, it was alright.
Might help if you had an area in MN in mind. Are you planning on Northern or Southern MN? Also what type of fish: walleye, trout, or bass? Also what time of year?
For trout you're in Northern MN or way southern, walleye would be mid to northern, bass would be mid to southern unless you're talking small mouth. Then there are some large one's up north also. Of course these are only rough guidelines.
Welcome to Minnesota. Go to Explore Minnesota on the Web and you will find lots of information for campgrounds. The State Park System also has a reservation system (go to MN State Parks)and you can see all of the parks there and the length of MH that they can accommodate. You can make reservations there too. Many places allow big rigs here, you can take your pick. I would encourage you to visit the north shore of Lake Superior for the scenic beauty and all the waterfalls. We have had lots of rain up north this spring so our rivers are running and even Lake Superior has gained in water level. Good luck and enjoy your stay! Judy

If you are interested in Southern Minnesota, we love Pettibone Campground which is technically in La Crosse, WI (but it is right on the Mississippi River) between Minnesota and Wisconsin. The sites are huge, and if you are lucky and call far enough in advance, you can get a site right on the river. Lots of fishing in the area. They have electric and water. Dump station. Your rig would fit. They have a website: www.pettiboneresort.com.
If you are looking for Northern Minnesota, we love Burlington Bay Campground in Two Harbors, Minnesota which is right on Lake Superior. Not sure about the fishing as Lake Superior is similar to an ocean, but I would be you could hook up with an excersion to take you fishing. Burlington Bay does not have a website. It is run by the City of Two Harbors, Minnesota. It is approximately 30 minutes north of Duluth on the North Shore. Some sites in the full-hook up section are right on the lake, but hard to get reservations.
Federal Dam, a COE cg. We spent a weekend there last month. We were the ONLY people there. In fact, we were quite solidly snowed in till Monday. We didn't see anyone else for 3 days sitting in a 50amp double rig pull through
