So who has replaced a standard 14" x 14" vent (without fan) and replaced it with an aftermarket vent fan such as a turbomaxx, or maxxair? I'm thinking about swapping out the plain old vents in the bunkhouse, and master bedroom of my KZ2809 with one of the aforementioned fans, and was curious as to the difficulty of the install, since there isn't any wiring in their locations.

I have been think of doing the same with the one in the bathroom. This one is wired for that cheap little fan that is in there but i might swap it out with one of the ones you have mentioned. Just out of curiosity, what are you towing your 2809 with? the Escalade? How does it tow?

Fow now I'm towing it with the Harley F-150, as it has the more stout motor between the two, being that it's modded (500hp/600tq). If the occasion arises where we are taking more than 4 people, then we'll consider using the Escalade. I have no doubt that the Escalade would handle the load with ease.

Pull out the insides of the vent and see if there are wires available. Is there a light near by? You could tap into that but watch the amp ratings.

No wiring in there, so I guess I'll just tap into the adjacent light circuit. I like the concept of the turbomaxx fan since it mounts onto the existing vent, and prevents the end user from having to worry about going through the sealing process.
How does the turbomaxx fan compare to the Shurflo gold or platinum series in terms of performance?

After doing a little more research, I'm 90% certain that I'm going to go with the Shurflo gold series fans throughout the entire TT. They seem to perform very well, and I like the fact that they can be operated with the lids closed as a ceiling fan. That feature should make our 90-100 degree days MUCH more bearable when used in conjunction with our air conditioner.
I have a question regarding installation. Should I use lap paste, along with putty tape over the seams of the vents when installing them? Or is lap paste enough to get the job done right?

Last year we replaces two of our vents with Shurlfo units about 1/3 of the way through our trip...same prinicpal, and the differance is night and day. The one in the kitchen sucks, and the one in the bedroom blows so we have great circulation. They open and shut based on the thermostat setting. After a long hot day on the road, the TT used to be so heat soaked that he AC had a heck of a time bringing the temp down. Now we let the vents do there thing while on the road and even in hot weather it's much cooler inside when we arrive.
Overall, a wise investment

Holy cow, it was 105 degrees out here today, and the AC was having a tough time cooling my TT down. I'm definitely ordering these fans tonight. I'm just trying to decide whether to replace only the vents in the front and rear of the TT, or all three. Do you guys think it would be worthwhile to replace the cheapo fan in the bathroom area with a shurflo while I'm at it? There is an AC vent directly next to the bathroom vent, so I was thinking it could help with moving cold air from the midsection of the TT.

Well, I pulled the trigger and purchased two gold series Shurflo fans, and just finished installing them tonight.
The selling point for me on these fans were their ability to be used with the lids closed, and the AC turned on. That said, these fans move a tremendous amount of air, and I think I'm going to be real happy with them out in the field.
