James Island County Park. Nice sites, near Folly Beach,off-leash dog park, great bicycle trails, low cost shuttle to downtown Charleston, huge rock climbing wall, well stocked store, etc. BUT, you need to reserve well in advance.

Another vote for James Island ... only because that's where we stayed a few years ago for three nights and liked it very much. Oak Plantation is also a highly recommended place. I'd suggest you check out both locations and facilities and choose one; apparently, you can't go wrong with either. Camp on!

Stayed at the KOA in MT Pleasant last fall, nice place, but if I went back we would like to try St. James, took a drive thru while we were there and it is everything they say it is. And if you should have an occasion to go in the late fall, They have have the most elaborate Christmas display you have ever seen, it in itself is worth the trip.
Enjoy............

I LUV James Island. It has so much to offer.

Close to downtown, bike/waling trails, 'dog park'.
The sites were nice and the best staff.
