My 2005 Jayco 23 has a generator compartment and receptacle mounted with a 30 amp breaker. I mounted my inverter, and wired it. Mounted my Honda, plugged it in to the cord I wired to the recptacle and breaker. I am not getting any power to the trailer! My wiring is good, I verified with my meter. What could be the problem? Everything works great with my coverter (shorepower) plugged into utility. What am I doing wrong? Please help! I appreciate it!
When a trailer or motor RV is wired to be powered either from shore power or generator, there will be a system to prevent applying both power sources at the same time. The more elegant one is an automatic transfer switch, a relay which cuts off shore power any time the generator starts.
The simpler one is a receptacle located in the storage compartment for the shore power cord. The box in the generator compartment is connected to that receptacle. Plug the shore power cord into the receptacle in its compartment and your generator can now feed it. See if you don't have that kind of system.

Thanks for the reply, yes I did discover this finally. I had a slide in camper previously and the gen compartment was wired to the system with an auto transfer relay. I thought this system was similar. I never even noticed that receptacle on the exterior wall, and my manual (which I read cover to cover looking for the solution) said nothing about it! Thanks again!

RV manuals are notoriously incomplete. You are pretty much left to get your schooling from relatives, friends and the school of hard knocks
