We are going to Alum Creek State Park in Delaware, Ohio.

Husband hopes to try out his fishing boat on the lake there.

We will be back in time on Monday to lay decorations at the graves of family servicemen. (Salute)

We are heading to our "usual" Memorial Day Campsite at Cunningham State Park. It's near Thurmont, MD (about 15 miles or so south of Gettysburg, PA). We go there every year as it is only about 20 miles from our house and we don't have to fight the traffic going to the beach or the more western mountains.

It's actually a very nice SP with a nice clean lake, two beaches a waterfall etc. They have one loop with electric hookups, but we stay on the "Elderberry" loop as we feel it is pretty and it is the "last" loop going up the mountain so it is a bit "quieter". The park is directly adjacent to Catoctin Mountain Park which also has a number hikes/exhibits etc.. Catoctin is run by the National Park service (FYI it is also home to Camp David).

Looks like it will be a nice weekend around here if the weather forecast holds up. Hope it is where you are too.

Please keep those who died for our country in your minds on this holiday, I know I will. I always try to remind my daughter about the meaning of this holiday, veterans day and the 4th, and too remember how lucky she is to be living in this country.

GM All,

Just thought this might get some people going to the same area together.

My family and some friends will be at Brownlee reservoir this weekend. Not one of my secret spots so I can tell you. If your going to be on the OR side, by the Cemetery, then come on by and say HI. The Fishing should be really good(cat, bass, crop & pirch) but will see if I can put the boat in. The Fed regs(flood control) was released on the 12th and they are just now filling the reservoir. I would think if they fill 3' a day I will be able to launch the boat on Thursday.

Everyone have a Safe and Great Memorial Day, Robert.

PS I am finally planning on taking my sig pic up there.

hope you have a great weekend, but not sure about brownlee reservoir. we were just there last weekend and the water is going into these reservoirs so fast that the water is extremely muddy--can't see a foot into the water. yes, LOTS of fish (according to the fishfinder), but no biting; not at brownlee, not at bully creek.

staying home this weekend, but will be getting out again after that.
