I also learned of this recall from this very topic and got it fixed right away at the end of May. Just received my recall notice yesterday. Sure glad to know the manufacturer is on top of this... NOT!!

I just had my refer fixed at no charge, this happened maybe two months ago. No questions asked and the RV dealer worked it in to the schedule which took about a day. Make sure that the dealer you are working with knows all the guidelines put out by Dometic, other than that keep pushing the issue

I actually emailed the NHTSA concerning Dometic's refusal to do on site band aids. Their reply follows:
Thank you for contacting the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Vehicle Safety Hotline Information Center.
Chapter 301 of Title 49 of the United States Code (U.S.C.) requires a manufacturer of motor vehicles or items of motor vehicle equipment that contain a defect relating to motor vehicle safety to remedy the defect without charge.
If you have previously repaired the defect on your vehicle involved in this recall, you may be eligible for reimbursement. Please contact your local dealer or manufacturer directly.
However, the statute does not authorize the NHTSA to require manufacturers to reimburse owners for collateral costs associated with a safety recall (e.g., lost wages while the vehicle is being repaired, car rentals, damage caused by the defect, etc.). Nor does the statute authorize the Federal government to reimburse vehicle owners for any costs associated with safety recalls.
The owner is responsible making arraignments to take the vehicle or equipment under a recall to an authorized dealer for repair.
We hope that you find this information helpful. However, if you need additional information on our services please feel free to contact us at 1-888-327-4236.
Thank you,

However, I do not feel this prevents Dometic from being liable for a defective product that they are not fixing, merely trying to prevent from toasting you (my opinion only). I called Dometic (actually some other company is handling the campaign) and had a lengthy heated discussion with the CSR. They refused to do on site repair under any circumstances. I told them they could contact me when they felt their liability becomes too great. I was in fact told that the unit provides no danger as long as operating on electric with gas valved out. This was contrary to the recording you get when you call(I'm not saying it is or isn't dangerous).
We took our '06 5th wheel in the 10th to get it winterized and a couple other things. I mentioned that we had a Dometic on the recall list. They it said it will be taken care of. No charge. I really don't understand some of these people. Dometic goes out of their way to fix and these characters are yelling "class action". I guess that is a problem for me, being born in the early '30s, I grew up with the idea that a handshake was a contract and a man's word was his bond. My, how things have changed. Everybody wants something for nothing, and if you irritate me, I'll sue you!!
I think that the anger has to do with what I have to agree is a very inefficient way (and for many, inequitable) that Dometic and/or its representatives have handled the entire recall. For some time people were told it involved only certain units, so people didn't followup if they didn't have those units. Then later they find out they did have one, but it was not on this list, or that list, or their dealer told them about yet another list.
Some people have had repair worker travel fees paid, some have not. Some have filed for the "fix" and then never heard back from Dometic, while some just sailed through the process.
You have to be proactive with this situation, keep on top of it, when you make your initial call, get someone's name to start with, ask what will happen next. When I asked about remuneration for travel (I live a 60-mi round trip from the closest dealer), I was told they would pay part of it and I said that was not going to work for me. Then I was told that if a request was made at the corporate level (whatever that means), then that would probably work to get all expenses paid. Others were not given that option.
I am a retired business education teacher, and before I even went to college I spent fifteen years as a corporate secretary. Those were the days when the customer was always right or you let them to believe they were. Good customer service is how businesses were successful, and that starts with the first phone call or the first walk through a business's door. It is unfortunate that our high school kids are no longer required to take any type of personal finance class that will familiarize them with the workings of the business world. And they sure don't get anything about etiquette working with society or, my favorite gripe, telephone etiquette.
People do get worn out trying to deal with inept people, so that is probably why they want to sue! I know that it is most likely that business won't succeed, which gives me some satisfaction.

Well, my feeling on this so called recall is it's a band-aid. If Dometic did it right they would fix the cooling tower so it won't fail!! All this band-aid recall fix does is when the cooling tower fails it moves the liquid away from the burner if your running on propane and shuts the propane off. Not a real fix, just a band-aid fix.

The recall provides only a metal shield unless you have a crack that is leaking. I had mine done 3 or 4 months ago and I am still receiving notices from Dometic, about 4 in all.

I really don't recall shaking anyone's hand when I purchased the RV with the Dometic refrigerator in it. Perhaps I did. If I did, it was with the understanding that the components in the RV would serve the purpose that was intended, and the warranty would be enforced if problems arose. Not just a shield to try to protect the RV from fire when the defective cooling unit fails.
I personally do not like class actions, but sometimes that is the only recourse we have. Corporations like Dometic have deep pockets, and individuals simply cannot afford to pursue litigation on their own, hence the class action suit. If one comes about, I'll gladly add my name to the list. I spoke to Dometic, so they have had the chance to fix it on their dime, not mine. Different strokes for different folks. BTW, it is your option to feel as you do, I just don't understand why you feel we want something for nothing in wanting the fridge fixed correctly.
