not very economical or enviromental but a gal of gas lights the bonfire then some medium stick will transfer the flame to the cook fire

i used 3/4 inch and 5/8 inch hose and i had them cut into 6 inch sizes. my DW and I where asking each other how it would look/work if we had say a 2ft pipe and hose inside the tepee when you like the fire we are going camping for a week June 14 and i am going to try it i will let everyone know how it works.

Oh man I think I'll try the 3/4" pipe it lasted quite a while but it sounds like the larger size would allow it to last longer.

I am going out June 10th and I'll try it too..

I'm no purist... I carry a small propane torch for a variety of useful tasks. A little kindling and the fire is going in minutes.

For a particularily difficult fire we'll give it a blast with the battery operated air inflater.

I use the cup holders you get at Tim Hortons and a bar-b-que lighter - works every time.
