How is hwy 45 south now? I usally go 78 over to Birmingham then down to Greenville and pick up 87 to Navarre, but some folks are saying maybe go 78 to Tupelo then 45 all the way Mobile then I-10 over to Navarre. Any body been this way lately if so any way around the tunnel.
Many thanks.

I don't know how it is above Meridian, but south of that point is really nice. It's been recently 4 lanes for a good distance and construction is still in process. I travel it about 4 times a year, going to the inlaws that live in Brewton, Al, which is about 45 minutes from Navarre Beach.

Thanks Rotten, Brewton is the way I usally go... leave Memphis head to Birmingham then down to Montgomery then sout on 65 to Greenville and then pick up 87 through Brewton and on down to Navarre... some think Memphis to Tupelo then down 45 is a good route but it was the Mobile bay thing that got me..
thanks again.

I just made the run from Tupelo to Memphis last Friday and the Westbound side of 78 had a really bad section (about 15 miles) of concrete pavement that about shook everything in the MH apart. Hopefully the Eastbound side is better? The section of 78 that is on the South side of Memphis in the warehouse district is really bad as well. Lots of lights, trucks and potholes!
