Reminds me a few years ago, we went down there over New Year's. Drove back from about 20 miles south of Raymond all the way to Montesano on compact snow and ice. Took forever, but the closest to a slip was when I got out of the rig to get gas in South Bend. It was foggy, so ice had formed all over the rig, including the running board (we had the Jayco class C), I slipped on the running board, and again on the ground, but didn't get hurt. Good adrenalin rush though.
I'm ready...DWs working at ISH today and I've got the "EX" washed and fueled and the tires up to towing #s.Gonna go put the hitch on and fill the airbags, wash off the black streaks and re-wax that part of the trailer.(Awesome also takes some of the wax off)..Gonna finish loading the fridge, that's the most important part,(but don't need beer this trip as we're going pub crawling at some of the McMenamins),weigh the tongue (don't really need to do that, but I got one of those tongue scales and need to use it)and then hook up to leave for Tigard early tomorrow AM and not come back till Tuesday.
The reason for going to Nehalem Beach in Jan,besides having to reload on the Reisling and Gewertz,is that Jeanne's gonna be gone and I'm going to be out in the trailer every weekend I can, unless the weather's too bad,and then I'll just put the slides out and camp at home..

I got a E-mail today from the Eaz-lift Company and they said they were sending me new Spring Bars for my hitch and that it would be about a week and they should be here. Isn't that something, I have had those bars about 7 or 8 years. Guess they are one company that stands on the word of life Time Guarantee.

This is a trip that's been planned for some time.My favorite aunt has moved from Bend to Portland and is also celebrating her 85th+ birthday this weekend and so there's gonna be a bit of a party. She and my late uncle and my family used to chew up massive chunks of trails in Wa and then after he couldn't hike anymore, she and I did some more ourselves. We celebrated her 70th b'day at South Summit lake on the side of South Sisters Mtn on a nine day backpack around the Three Sisters Wilderness..She's a tuff ole gal and still does about 20 miles a week on day hikes..
Just pulled into a Walmart in Phoenix, AZ to stock up on supplies so I decided to stay COOL in the MH and catchup on emails, etc while the wife does some shopping. Outside temp gauge shows 110, but I find it reads 2-3 degrees high at times.
We'll be heading for Yuma once wife returns. I've never actually stopped the couple of times we flew through so this time we spend a few hours and maybe stay the evening.
Our six week journey is quickly coming to an end. Unfortunately, kids start back to school on 9/3 so we need to start heading home. I think we will drive 101 most the way since I'm total bored of I-5 since I done this CA to WA route 4 times in the last 1.5 years. Never did 101 so we'll give it a try.
Hope everyone is doing well. Roger & Terri, congrats on the grandchild.
Oh, if any of you travel through Amarillo, I highly recommend Oasis RV Resort. It's a new park and it's definitely a 5 star resort. Only cost us $27/night. Great facilities and they even have FREE laundry machines for you to use.

101 is a pretty, and slower, drive compared to I-5. From end to end, it would take you about 5-6 hours on I-5 and 8-10 on 101. So take it slow and enjoy the ride. Oh, but if you're doing it this weekend, it will be packed with those darn tourists trying to get one more glimpse of the coast before school starts.
Kevin, glad to see you, Angela and kids are doing well on the trip. Yuma is HOT this time of year and not much to see. If you have the time and its not so hot you see no reason to go out you might take the kids up to the Territorial Prison on the west end of town right off of I-8. I think the kids might find it interesting.
