We made it home safely and got the kids back in school. Now comes all the catchup that one must perform for being gone 6 wks and NOT being retired.
We had a great trip, and as usual, we ran out of time and felt rushed in the end. We didn't get to hit the East coast and Gulf coasts like we had wanted, but than again it wouldn't have been much fun given the weather.
We did come up Hwy 101, but decided to get back on I-5 we we reached San Francisco because of a tire blowout on our CRV that caused some right fender damage. I pulled over immediately and my tie pressure monitor gave no warning. The tire simply exploded and all there was left was small pieces all over the road. The rim was destroyed because it dragged the distance it took me to pull over. I'm also seeing some weird cracks on my other tires and I believe I may have gotten a bad batch of tires from Les Schwab. I also thinking they may have siped them incorrectly causing weak points, which would explain the little chunks that were left of my right front tire. Oh, well...just add to the heap of things to get done!
BTW, for those who travel a lot, I highly recommend the SPOT Personal GPS Tracker. We used it on our trip and our family was able to see on a map exactly where we were at. It updated our position every 10 minutes when it was turned on. Didn't get a lot of calls asking where we were and what route we were taking.

Oh dudes, do NOT get me started on******that has gone wrong with my trailer. I think I have the accursed trailer of Heck. Parts of it still don't work despite repeated trips to the repair shop. I think they're just not destined to all work at the same time anymore. The trials and tribulations of a used trailer, I guess.

We were coming down to Mt Angel but we have had to make some changes in our plans. My aunt who has no children had heart problems and is now staying with us, along with my daughter and four kids, while we find someone to stay with her in her home. Untill we know we have her stable and being taken care of we cannot get that far from our home base. We were really looking forward to the four days down there and then doing the coast but guess it will have to be next year...

Glad to hear you had a great trip and glad no major damage due to the tire blowout. Last time I stopped at Les Schwab to get a leaky tire fixed, they wanted to sipe my new tires. I said no thanks, they already had enough meat and grip to them as it was. I think they were just looking to make an extra buck.
I'm hoping to go camping again before the end of the month, but will have to wait and see what Laura's schedule ends up to be before pulling the trigger.
Sorry you can't down to Mt. Angel, Bob and Sue. Hope you can make satisfactory arrangements for your aunt--your house is getting pretty full! Dave and I belong to the Optimist Club in Salem and we have had a booth there for many years. I work Thursday and Friday--Dave is going antelope hunting with his hunting buddy.
