Got a road trip coming up on Thursday.. Will be taking the BHS girls swim team to P.A. for the afternoon.Looks as if the weather will be great for the trip and I'll be taking my new bus on the road for the first time..
Stopped and looked at some MHs on Sunday at the Silverdale Mall and kinda fell in love with a Fleetwood Discovery 40',Butttt,we still think that our trailer is still the way to go..Also saw a Winnebago with the bunk slide and it has two bunks with drop-down DVD players above each bunk... coolllll....

Kevin, did you ever put a thermometer in your refridgerator to see how much difference the fans made? I have not had an occassion to use them in temps over 100. I am in the process of re wiring mine so that I can just unplug them when I take the cover off the back side and also am putting a switch on the cover to turn them off and on, in fact I may just run the wires inside and put the switch on the top control panal for the unit and have a light to show if the fans are on or off.

Found this summer that the fridge wasn't keeping things as cold as usual and I figgered that it was the 100 temps outside..Was messing around and found that the little shelf thermometer was over 20 degrees out of synch.. Used my regular outside one and found the temp was right where it should be..Even in the heat.. I guess you should check those a bit more often.I was gonna take the unit in for repair and it really wasn't broken and the new thermometer is working great...

Yes, I used one of those frig thermometers frig but I was only concerned with whether or not the temp was within the "Blue" range. Before, it was always 10-15% above the blue zone. After adding that fan, it stayed within the blue zone for a couple of weeks 96-100+ degree days until it started to frost over inside. I didn't notice it until is was getting pretty thick and the frig temp rose above the blue zone. My wife chipped of the ice and than I turned the Humidity switch on and once again it stayed within the blue zone throughout our vacation.

I do have a manually switch for the fan I added inside the frig compartment. I turned it on when we left on the vacation and turned it off when we returned. Will probably never have it on while in Washington, unless the temps reach the high 90s.

We also have the Dometic fan, but it is controlled by the 165 degree switch and with my fan, it just doesn't get that hot in the chase. I did bring my infarred temp gun and it seemed the chase usually stayed within +-10 degrees of the outside temp. Without the fan, it quickly got to 135+ degrees on a 90+ day.

Leaving tonight around 6pm to fly to Reno for the Air Races. It's an annual journey a group of us take each year. I guess it's the sound of thunder and the thrill to see planes racing 500+ mph, wingtip-to-wingtip, flying on edge around a pylon with their wingtip only 50ft above the ground at times. YEAH BABY!!

Going to use my SPOT gps tracker so my family can track our flight. Hopefully it'll be just for fun, but should something happen, they'll know exactly where to drop the wreath!

We'll be flying back home monday morning.

We added a new piece of gear to our traveling equipment. We bought a TomTom XL 330 S GPS unit. It seems to work very nice for the bit we've used it around town. Kinda fun actually.

John and Nikki you are going to love having a GPS unit. I cannot imagine traveling in the Tradwinds without it. Sue claims it has saved the marriage. In two years of use it has only taken me down the wrong road a couple of times vs almost everyday when I was trying to figure out roads in new area's. I have the Garmin 2710 and its been the best addition to our MH we think. Just getting me thru Sacramento and Houstin made it pay for itself as far as I was concerned.

I still prefer maps....Saw a guy this morning that was lost down on 17th and Elizabeth here in Bremerton as his GPS map showed Elizabeth going thru to Lebo blvd. The problem is that there is this little body of water called the Washington Narrows in the way.I saw it and it did show the water, but the street went right over it..
Another favorite subject of ours.. The price of diesel.Went to N.M and the highest price we saw was $5.11 in Monticello,Ut.The actual most we paid for fuel was $4.96 at the Safeway here in Silverdale the day we got home. The other day,I bought fuel in Portland for $4.49 and then Wednesday,I had to go to Olympia and bought 33 gallons there for $4.35 in Lacey.Yesterday I took the swim team to P.A. and the price of fuel there was $4.05,WoWwwwww !!!!All over town.....Fuel here this morning at Safeway was $4.65 !!!!! What gives ??????
Saw the douuble fatality yesterday up by Discovery Bay where a smaller P/U ran off the road, then overcorrected to the other side and then hit a 36' MH head-on.The MH was a gas and I think that the lady driving is still alive because of having the engine in front of her. The P/u was really totalled with the top cut off and bent back to get the two people out, both of them died.. The whole front of the MH was destroyed from the w/s down. The lady driving the MH was from Port Orchard.

We got a Garmin Nuvi 5000 a few months ago and it has worked just fine on a few trips to wherever it was we were going. It's the one with that really BIG screen! 4.7" I believe. And it's really cool when you're using it at night as the maps basically reverse color. But I'm sorta like Jon and like a good old printed map and will print one out ahead of time if I can. What I really like about our GPS is when I don't follow her instructions (cuz I know a better way). Man, does she get an attitued! Almost as bad as Laura's when I don't turn when she says to.
