How many black cars are in Texas? I would keep the top white, and heck, only one side at a time is in the sun! And if park facing south you can further minimize the heating.

I have some news for you, there are LOTS of black cars in Texas.

painted mine metallic blue with a black bottom skirt and cherry red strip, white roof, its 10 degrees hotter just sitting in the sun from what it used to be but its just as cool inside when the AC is running as it was when white.so far black streaks are not a problem but dust shows up more then when it was white.

Black absorbs heat (bigtime) will make situation worse, and play H--- on your AC in a hot climate...but hey, that's up to you, living in FL. we all go for white or light colors in any vehicles..

tcr1016,
I think you will find that the outside skin on your Safari is aluminum, The only one I have ever seen with a fiberglass side was a friend of mine's 1999 Safari Serengeti which Monaco replaced the right side (due to delamanation) with a fiberglass one, I have got to say they did an incredible job as it looked exactly like the left one which was aluminum.

If your sole purpose is to hide the wrinkles in the sides, black is probably the very last color you want.

Black will show every flaw in the body, requires an excellent paint job to look good, requires lots of maintenance i.e. waxing and washing to look good. Begins to look dusty is minutes and when condensation or dew gets on it when dusty looks dirty within a short period of time. I have had cars painted black and vowed would never own another because of the maintenance. Like said bugs are hard to remove without leaving marks. I will stick with my Silver as it stays clean looking even when dusty compared to other colors. And yes dark colors absorb more heat and then light or white colors. Black cars I drove in FL. were way more hot in the sun then white cars.

I would have dent busters take care of any flaws and have the paint touched up and polished real good.

Where do I get dent busters?? And the outside is fiberglass correct???

the outside is not fiberglass, just the end caps. the sides are aluminum. dentbusters are the same poeple you take for hail damage on your vehicles. I don't know how they do it, but they take the dents out, and no painting either. took out dents and door dings for me.
