We are looking into buying another RV, a new RV and shipping it back to England! the problem with that is that the English Customs charge 40% on top of the price of the RV to bring it into England! (so a $100000 RV would cost $140000) there is a way round this and that is, buy the RV and keep it stored in America for 1 year! would like to know what it would cost to store an RV of around 36 feet long! we would be flying over every so offen to use it!!!

Thanks

This is really going to depend on where you want to store it, and how you want to store it. In the Denver, Colorado area, you could store that RV outside for about $60.00 a month. If you wanted it stored indoors, you can easily triple or quadruple that amount (still alot less than $40,000.00 of course). I am sure that in some areas the cost to store could be significantly higher (but again, it would never get close to $40,000.00). Sounds like a good plan.

Anywhere from $30 to $75 a month for outside storage, in Florida. That would be in a gated site, where you would have to have it registered and insured. The dealers may offer you a better deal if they can lease it back from you as a floor model. That's been done by new housing builders for years. That would eliminate the need for insurance and registration and posibly sales tax. Just get it titled to you first and sign a lease protecting you from liability.

The 40% charge is just a tax for import duty! keeping the RV in America for a year is far better than paying the 40%

Is this so that you own it for a year, or that it is a year old? If the later, couldn't you just buy a 2007 model? With having to own it for a year, you shouldn't have to pay too much, and may find that the dealer you are buying from may even work with you on storage. Many campgrounds have storage areas, and are priced reasonably too. The problem with those places, the lack of security. As with most things, you get what you pay for.

Good Luck

It doesn't matter how old the RV is, we still pay 40% to bring it into England, i was going to import a Ford F150 Lightening some time ago which was 2 years old and that was still going to cost 40% import duty

I store my MH in Pomona California about 10 minutes from the Ontario Airport. We have a couple that stores their MH there and they live in Germany. They fly in, taxi to the storage facility (indoor for $7/ft), pick up the MH with toad attached and they are off. Upon return it's an easy reverse process. If you want to store in Southern California this is a good possibility. If interested send a PM.

One of the neatest things is that if you buy a new one you will loose at least 25% of its value in the first year due to deprecation.
Now that's a real tax!
