We picked up our 2009 Big Country yesterday for the Memorial Weekend trip. Brought her home and washed her up. I unlocked the door, went inside and look to the bedroom. Hmmmm, the bed is up in the air, drawers on the dresser are all pulled out as far as they will go (with the slide in anyway). For a second I was thinking "Dang, must have been a rough trip". Then it dawns on me - somebody has been in here going through stuff. GASP! Heart pounding - I go into the livingroom and the television is GONE. Yell to husband "There is no *&%* TV in here!!!" Yes, we had been burglarized. The lock on the door is broken, yeah, seemed like it opened a little easy when I turned the key. Lincoln Nebraska dealerships and storage facilities have been getting hit pretty hard. I hope they catch the SOBs. Our storage facility is fenced, locked and has barbed wire on top.
They still aren't gonna ruin our camping weekend!!! Hopefully I can get all the fingerprint dust cleaned up??

Well that really sucks. That's why I am so happy I am able to store our rig in our driveway, under a security light. Try not to let it get you down, insurance will cover any loss. Go camping and try to forget about it. Maybe find another storage facility. Good luck.

Insurance - $500 deductible - $500 TV. Had the TV been a "carry-in" TV, the deductible would be $100 classified as a personal belonging. But since it was actually a mounted TV that came with the camper - it's the campers' deductible of $500. Always a catch.
Will be storing elsewhere from now on.

I'm sorry to hear of your break in. You have to wonder if someone who has or had legitimate access to your lot did the deed.

Very Sorry to hear about that. But glad to hear that your Camping plans will continue. Some storage lots can be checked through local police for # of incident/thefts. Good luck on finding a new lot.
BTW future note, Most Flat panel TV's have a screw or two that allows you to lift it off the wall mount.

Someone broke into our MH while we were eating at a Cracker Barrel. It was broad daylight. They did get DW's luggage full of clothes, that was covered by the home insurance. They got the stereo unit, but I replaced it myself. Not a good feeling. Just enjoy the weekend and everything will be better when you get back.
We have the MH parked behind our house and usually leave it unlocked. I am more worried that some kid will try to get some gas and puncture the tank. I don't think they could catch the 75 gallons of gas and I would have a real mess.

I wonder if you could install a car alarm in a RV with a siren hidden under the belly??

I know they make alarms for RVs. There is one in my storage lot that goes off every time I drive by it towing my trailer. Guess it does not like the pipes on the TV.

I think somebody has a alarm system that will call your cell phone in case of a break-in in vehicles.A small video camera that is activated when the door is sprung open is also nice. It's a shame we have to resort to these items but if it helps then it's worth it.
