I'm sorry to hear of your break in. You have to wonder if someone who has or had legitimate access to your lot did the deed.

I agree. I believe a lot of storage lot break-ins are inside jobs.

Hi All.

We are also very lucky to be able to keep our 5er in its own Covered RV Port right at home. Our Home is covered by Brinks Security Services 24/7, 365 days a year. Since our Covered RV Port is on the rear of our property, and has its own paved driveway, we also have a Driveway Alarm, that sounds off if anyone crosses a certain line of the driveway. We also have an alarm inside of our 5er, that if the door is opened, it will trigger the Alarm inside of the 5er instantely. We also carry a permante Customized Tool Box, on the Rear Bumper with a 2 ich reciever, to house our Twin Honda EU2000i's. The Tool Box also has an Alarm inside of the Tool Box, and as soon as anyone even lifts the waterprrof cover off of it, it will trip the inside Alarm, before anyone can even get the Tool Box open. It is a shame that anyone has to go to such lengths to protect their property. But we feel it was money well spent. Both the Alarm inside the RV and the Alarm inside the Tool Box, can be heard form quite a few houses away, or several campground sites. Nothing is really full proof, but I doubt that a thief will want to spend much time inside of our 5er with an Alarm going off, as it just draws to much attention from anyone else around. The same thing for the Tool Box Alarm. Don't think anyone would willing stay and mess with the 5er or the Tool Box with the Alarms going off. We live in a very good neighborhood, in a very small town, were we hardly ever even hear of any crime. But there is probably more chance of someone wanting to break in our 5er or Tool Box, while traveling. Besides, we got very good insurance discounts on our 5er, our truck, and our Homeowners insurance for having Alarms in all three of them. Was worth the price of the Alarms. But we do have insurance to cover most any issues, or losses. Nothing really ever stops the Pro Theif, but we sure won't make it easy for them either. Good Luck. Happy Camping, Dan & Jill

I would be really p***ed if someone broke into my trailer, but I hope I would take it as well as the OP. It stays parked in our driveway when we're not using it, so a breakin seems unlikely, but you never know...We don't take any special precautions when we're camping except to lock the door. I suppose it would make sense to put some sort of alarm on it, but I doubt I'll get more elaborate than that.
