I just upgraded last fall to a Fleetwood Hornet trailer. The overall length for the new trailer is 31 1/2'. I had the dealer install my friction sway on the trailer and decided after two trips last fall that I was going to upgrade to the Reese dual cam hp setup this spring. I installed the new reese setup and am very happy with it. My question is that is there any reason that I couldn't also use the friction sway??? The brackets are still there and it does not interfere with anything. My thinking is that on the open road it would be just a little more security against the tractor trailers passing at hight rates of speed.

I found that the DC was so good it wouldn't have been necessary. I suppose you could try it with both. My thinking,...too much stuff to hook up, don't bother.

I believe the friction bar will work against the DC. it would slow down the return to center feature the DC has!

Friction sway controls work by adding resistance to horizontal movement in the hitch connection. The DC uses a dynamic action. By using both you are slowing down and impeding the action of the DC. Kinda like pouring molasses into a watch. Like the other posters say, don't do it. If the DC isn't enough by itself, something else is amiss.

Donk't bother with using the friction controller. I did that for a while. Forgot to put the friction controller on one time and found the TT towed much better without the friction controller. I believe the DC and friction controller were working against each other. I use the DC solely now and very pleased with the performance. Friction controller is just paying around collecting dust at this point.

I use my friction sway with my DC in high cross winds conditions. I find it provides better stability in these conditions. I have use it with the DC even in calm conditions and have found no adverse effects. So, try it, you may like it or not, you decide. It will not hurt the way DC works, because the DC is still going to try to straighten the trailer up with the TV.

Seems like a waste of time to me but probably won't harm anything. Might be better to spend a little time fine tuning the DC system and you shouldn't even notice passing trucks.

I did that when I got my D/C then on one trip I forgot it Seemed to me like it was much better without the friction bar. Try both ways and see what you think...

We are using a pro set up combination (Can Am). We use the reese DC and they did not recommend adding any extra sway control. In ten years of towing we have not had a single sway issue.
