Well we just got back from our first time out with the TT. It went very well and we didn't have to run to the store once. Mainly because of all of the advice we got from this site. We did come up with a list of about 20 things to take along next time and about 7 things that need to be fixed or tweaked.

As I was putting things away I came to the water hoses. What does everybody do with them. Do you drain them, hang them, fill them or what? I don't want it to get all gross inside. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Alot,

Nick

I drain mine and then connect both ends together to keep anything from getting inside.
Some posters have put washers with screens over the end and hold it in there by drilling out the centers of hose caps.

I drain my water hose and then coil it up and connect the ends together to keep anything from getting inside the hose then store it in the basement.

I drain mine at the site as best i can, and stow away... when i get to the next site I flush a little water through it before I hook it back up to the TT a couple times a season when we give the TT a big clean I submerge the entire hose in a clean 5 gallon bucket filled with decent bleach and water solution...I have been told Im excessive with this sort of stuff but I like to tinker...

ditto! I also store it as far away from my stinky slinky and flash kit hose as possible.

I drain mine, coil and connect the ends and stow in a giant zip lock bag with the water filter and pressure regulator (and additional washers)and a crescent wrench! About 2 years ago I did take my hose inside and submerge it in a bathtub of bleach water to clean both inside the hose and outside - all pretty again!

I dont connect both ends together so that the hose can breath... I'd prefer it dry out then grow fungus inside...as far as anything getting inside, thats why i flush a little through before I hook up...

I flush with chlorinated city water, drain as best I can then coil can connect the ends together. Mostly I only use them at home with city water. I only use them in a campground if we stay more than 4 days. This is when I flush them when I get home.

When I sanitize the fresh water tanks each spring, I run the chlorine through all of the hoses on the way to the tank. This gets a burst of strong chlorine solution in the hoses once a year.

I used to hook the ends together too until someone here mentioned the growth that goes on in there.

So now I just screw a regulator on each of the ends of the hose, the regulator has a screen on it. Hose can breath and nothing can crawl in. The regulator trick is also good to use when you have to break camp for propane or whatever, take off your hose from MH and screw on the regulator.

I do it when I have time run a weak bleach and water solution thru it before hook up, my bays are certainly not germ free.

i've also read to connect the hoses together but was also wondering about fungus going in them - i only noticed one person who also mentioned this - i'm thinking it would be best to let the hoses dry out first then screw the ends together.
Also wondering - i just took my first rv trip so used my hoses and water filter for the first time - and i noticed the water tasted terrible at the rv park i stayed (their water is chlorinated) i intended to taste the water elsewhere in the park to see if it was the same but forgot - was wondering if the awful taste could be from the new hoses and or new water filter? or did this area just have yucky tasting water?
