My DW and I are looking into pre-approval before we purchase a 5th wheel.

We have been told it would be good to use a "local" bank (Suntrust, Regions, etc.) for this type of loan.

What do ya'll think? Who is a good source for RV loans?

Thanks!!!

I would definitely use my local bank that I trust and would use for another financial business. Be careful- All RV's depreciate like crazy and you can end up with an "upside loan" real easy if you don't pay much down and finance long-term.

If you belong to a credit union that would be your best rates.

Check with your local crdit union also and see what the loan APR on RV. Sometimes they can be just a little lower that local banks.

Lenders are really gun shy these days with all the credit problems too many folks have and the demand for more "risk premium" (higher rates) from the wholesale sources of funds.

Make phone calls to lots of your local lenders and please let us all know what you find.

All men over age 50 should get an annual PSA blood test. Mine had a low reading, but the yearly jump was significant. The biopsy showed cancer just entering the aggressive stage. Dr. Hackenslash removed it.

Just called my State Farm agent yesterday. They finance 4yrs on up. rates 4yrs 5.79%. 10yrs 6.39%. That's in Virginia. I don't know if that is a national program or what.

We've used different banks. The current trend (we just bought our current trailer in March) is to require a higher down payment. They wanted 20% on a used unit. Not sure what it would be on a new unit.

In Arizona, US Bank is very aggressive right now. They're trying to break into the market in this area. For the first time in 15 years, I did a loan with someone other than my credit union. US Bank was 1-2 points better than my credit union.

I think we got 5.99 %

Best of luck to you.
