I have had the prodigy now for four years and my question is If I get it so it feels like it is braking well at highway speeds or even 25+_MPH. The problem arises when I get to campground or into gas station or what have you, it grabs way to hard. The only way I can get it to work is I have to constantly hit the boost button down to 0 or is B.1. Then when back out on road I have to set it back up to B.3.

It sounds like you don't have your voltage high enough. I run constantly on B1. I rarely need to touch it. I don't recall what the voltage is set at now. I am hooking up friday morning and I can check it for you then if you would like. My first guess would be voltage. My second guess is that your brakes on your TT may need to be adjusted.

I have found I usually set it at 9 volts. Trailer is brand new but I guess that does not mean brakes do not need adjusting. Just read another post where they set it at 12 volts. maybe I will give that a try and leave it at B1 as it is a toy hauler and rather heavy.

How do you know how many volts you are applying - I thought the Prodigy indicated current (amps)?

quote from Tekonsha web site

"Digital display depicts voltage delivery to trailer during braking. "

IMO try setting it per manual. That worked great for me.

Mine does the same. I thought it was normal. I never mess with boost though.

I have used this on 3 trailers now and not one will function as per set up instructions. Nor have I seen anyone be able to lock up there tires on dry pavement.

I am beginning to think it is just what each individual feels is proper braking power. Just like some people think their F150 tows that 8000# trailer just fine and gets great MPG.

I just packed the bearings and adjusted the brakes this past weekend. I tried setting the Prodigy per the instructions and could never get the wheels to lock up. It stops OK @ B1 and 10 volts. But at highway speeds I think I'll set the boost to B3. I could get the brakes to lock with my old Reese controller but the Prodigy seems to stop the trailer better, if that makes any sense. I think I need to upgrade my wiring on the TT.
