I'm new at the travel trailer end of camping. Do people add a state sticker on when they go though a state or only when you camp over there?

You will find folks here that do it both ways. It is your camper and you can do it anyway you want.

Make yourself happy. Heck, if you flew over in a plane, you can color that state in if you want to. I won't challenge it!

This is my favorite campground argument. We put each state on if we overnight.I dont see any way as being wrong.

It's up to you. Everybody has their own rules for the state stickers.

I will color in a state if I have slept in the TT there.
We also have a map of the US at home. We have a different color pin for each member of the family plus one (white) for all of us. A pin goes into the city or town any of us has been to.

We only put them on when we camp there, as there have been lots of states we've traveled through, but we thought it would only be fiar to put the sticker on when we've actually do soemthing in the state.
But it's your camper, so do as you please

We decided that we would only "color" a state if we actually "visit" it. Meaning, if we only overnight somewhere on the way to our destination, then no sticker for us. Our quick and dirty rule, 2 nights in the same CG or no sticker. This way, it means we took a day to go site seeing. Last year on our 7000 mile trip, we stayed 2 nights in TX (too big to cross in one day. LOL!) But we did not "visit" TX, so no sticker.
But as everyone says, do it how YOU want to. It is for you anyway.
