You can read our stories for the last few winters about life in Q on our blog.
We boondock close to Q in the BLM. Sure we could stay in a RV park and be RIGHT next to another RV. But in the BLM we can spread out and live the good life. It's not the cost it's the freedom. Priceless.
We were in Parker this Dec and Jan--it was cold, rainy, and windy! We were not impressed with Quartzite but I think that is a personal thing. You would have to like people in huge groups a lot more than we do to enjoy Quartzite--and flea markets!
I don't understand the attraction but it's obviously there for thousands of folks.
I boondocked in Quartsite for about a month in '86 during the month of Nov. The weather was great but finding water was hard. The BLM tap went dry by around 9am. You had to line up real early if you wanted enough water pressure to fill up at least partially. The problem might have been remedied since then. The townies at the time didn't take too kindly to RVer's asking for their water either.
If I ever decided to go there again, it would only be for a few days and I'd stay at a private campground if I did.
We were there in February, but just for a weekend. It would be interesting to spend a few weeks there. You would have to learn the in and outs of everyday living and make adjustments. I think that it could be an interesting lifestyle for a little while at least.
