I can't speak for the Tundra, but I do have experience with a Trailmanor. My 2006 F150, 5.4L engine, 3.73 gears gets 19 to 20 mpg on mountainous interstate (I-81 in VA.), and averages 17-18 mpg combination driving from the home base. In towing my 2720, I got 15.0 mpg on mountainous interstate from Harrisonburg, VA. to the New York state border last year on a trip to Connecticut (AC on, 3 people, a dog, and the bed of the truck loaded down for 6 nites of boondocking), and also recently on a 2 and 4 lane trip to PA. with combination driving (~80% hwy, 20% city). Add steep back road mountains, or a bunch of city driving and that mileage can dip down in the lower 14s. I have tended to be a very conservative driver since the 74 Arab oil embargo.

The 33' Trailmanor that jbh1993 has is equalvalent to a 33' trailer in the raised position only......it is only 26' in the towing position, and weighs in at ~3520 lbs. empty. That puppy is the biggest unit that Traimanor makes, and the only unit with tandem axles.

Trailmanors are essentially hard wall popups. The truck tailgate is probably as high as the trailer roof when in transit. IF it is 33 feet, that is most likely setup with about 9 feet of bunkend overhang. So more like a 25 foot long popup box when in transit.

Still seems 1-2 mpg high, but not absurd.

It ain't the Tundra. It's time to get a popup!

Sure does seem like a big range for the same similar trucks. I wonder if some really believe the trip computer without checking by hand calculating? I had a chip in mine for a few trips and it always showed 2-4 mpg more than actual. Never did it ever increase my mpg towing or non-towing.

So my actual hand calculated numbers are averaged on a 2475 mile trip is 10.6 mpg pulling hwy at 65-68 mph. One time while running 45mph in the keys I got 14 as a result of less wind drag.

Seems like those that report 8-11mpg are normal numbers, the ones reporting several more must drive extremely conservative, are lucky and have a great engine, or believe the trip computer I do wish I could get near those mpg's.

I'm about to go on another long 2475 mile round trip and it took 233 gal each time I did it before. I will make a big effort at keeping an egg under the gas pedal the entire trip to see if I can improve my numbers.

howdy all, I have a 06 Tundra 4X4 doublecab AT and get 17.6-21.2 empty hwy,
14-15.5 town empty, towing 22' TT 5500lbs, 10.5mpg and does a good job, I am sorta skeptical about towing the 33' TT that was posted , but who knows? all I can say mine wont do that good.

5.9 CTD with 6spd manual.

Trailer is right at 10,600lbs

Truck and trailer together is right at about 19,000lbs combined

I get 10-11mpg towing at 60mph.

I don't have any mpg numbers on the new 2008 Duramax (below), but with my previous truck that was about the same (DMax, Ext cab, 4wd) I got 11.4 mpg overall towing the Cruiser FW during the last 12 months.

I drive like a slow, old lady. Doesn't hurt my feelings at all! I'm retired and not in a hurry anymore (usually!) I put the cruise on and set it to 58-59 mph, which kept the rpms on the diesel about 1800. I heard that was an efficient speed at which to tow. Up until about a year ago I towed slightly faster at 63 mph, and my mileage was a hair less. I don't recall but I think it was 11.0.

Best feature is the 450-mile towing range (plus reserve)

No towing this calendar year but all other miles at 19.3 mpg thus far.
