y0manda...

I wish we were heading out this weekend but the DW broke out the honey do list for me so there's that. Hopefully your weekend isn't as bad. Have a great time.

Last year summer came on a week end, and it was good.

Our trip actually turned out great, we went to Havasu. Weather could of been hotter but I had a good time. The only thing that sucked was the $500 I dumped in for diesel.

We left the snowy Eastern Sierras on thursday and spent the weekend in Death Valley where it was overcast and even had two thunder showers! Got up to about 65 in the Valley! Great trip minus the horrible price at the pump!

We bailed on Pismo and went to Cal City instead. Temps were in the high 60's, low 70's and partly clody. Very few people out there as well. We rode 6 hours each day and didn't pass any other riders all weekend. It was the best time we have had out there in years.

Our secret spot in the desert was nice and quiet as well, no traffic going or coming and saw few riders for a holiday weekend.

Here's one for ya.

Had reservations at Doheny state beach campground Thursday before Mem day until Tues after. Left work Thursday late, ran into traffic and rain on the way there. 2 hour drive, normally one. Wife was already there with trailer and called while I sat in traffic and says we don't have camping spots. Reserve America doubled booked our spot so we have to double up with in-laws on there spot. Thank goodeness they have a small camper van. Got there Thursday night and it was cold, cloudy and really windy. Bought the Outback Room just for this trip. First time with beach front spaces. Thank goodness in-laws had same type of spot. Will put put outback room tomorrow. I park my car a walk to the our spot. Look out at the beach and discovered they cut a 8'-0" high berm in the sand for high tides do to pending storm moving in. Can only see very small portion of cost line. Oh well, make the best of it and put up room Friday. Start drinking. Wake up Friday. Still cold, cloudy and very windy. No room install. Hang out in trailer all day. Start drinking. Rain off and on. Wind stops about 3:00 PM. Thank goodness. Keep drinking. Will install room Sat. Go to bed Friday night. Rain down pours off and on all night. Get a call from neighbor across the street at 11:30 PM. Alarm at our house is going off. Someone broke into our house through side window. Spend the next hour on the phone with neighbor and police. Police have company come out and board up window. I tell neighbor I will be there first thing in the AM. Leave campsite go home Sat. AM by myself and check out damage. Still cloudy at beach. Forget camera and have to turn around and go back. Have a run in with young rookie ranger at entrance gate of park because I rolled through the stop sign and he wasn't paying attention to the gate. Tell him I have been coning here same weekend for last 13 years and have never came to a complete stop at entrance because all other rangers pay attention. He then tells me the speed limit is 15 MPH. I count to 10 and drive 15 MPH and go get camera. Get home and low snow cover on foothills. Nothing stolen. Minimum damage. Alarm scared them off. Clean up, talk to neighbor for an hour, sit down on couch and think about drinking. Don't drink, call wife and drive back to Doheny. Call police department on way back a ask them to do drive buys until Tues.. They will. Get back to Doheny late afternoon Sat. Clouds gone and warming up and no wind. Will put up Outback room tomorrow. Start drinking. Wake up Sunday, weather good. Partly cloudy, no wind and warming up. Put up Outback room. Grab chair and sit out in the room. Start drinking and watch sunset (as much of it that I can see) put up ramp door at night and leave add a room up. Monday and Tue same as Sun. thank goodness.

What a memorable Memorial Day

This was what it looked like from the second story of my house in Mammoth on Saturday 5/24, which was opening day at the Sierra Star golf course.

This is what it looked like on Memorial Day. Still pretty chilly at 45 degrees, but it sure helped keep the Coronas cold!
