We have out trip mapped out beautifully, except for the ultimate destination, the Grand Canyon.

Surprised to see there aren't many CG options?!?!?!

Where should we camp with our 23' TT?

Thanks...

As far as I'm concerned there is no choice. Trailer Village is essentially a parking lot with hookups, but right next to it is Mather Campground which is really lovely. Mather has large wooded sites well spaced. No hookups but boy is it nice!! I've stayed there before and hope to do so again. Highly recommended!

Trailer village is inside the park with full hook ups. You can catch the shuttle at the campground. It has grass between sites ( nothing beautiful but there are trees and grass in the campground. While nothing special, certainly not a parking lot.

And if you can't get into the RV park you can just dry camp outside in the National Forest. You basicly go down most any dirt side road at least 1000 feet from the highway and find a spot that looks good. Free. We camped for a week just outside the Gate on the South Rim a year ago, quiet and secluded. Only saw one other rig the whole time.

This is discussed almost weekly so search this forum for words like Campground then search the results for South Rim; or phrases like that.
I vote for Williams.

Trailer village gets my vote (and my money). Full hookups, basic services, close to all the sights, which is why you are there anyway.

I like it out at Desert View the best. Dry camping, but we are seldon at the Canyon for more than 2 or 3 days at a time. It's hardly ever full (at least at the times we are there). About 25 miles to the Village. We generally stop at the overlooks on the way in to the village for lunch/shoping. Then on the way back to the CG we stop again. Get to see the Canyon in different lighting this way.

Fair enough. I was in the throws of making reservations for week after next. I went with Mathers because Trailer Village was full.

See my posting on Grand Canyon Update. Trailer Village is ok - not great, but hardly a parking lot. You can stay at Williams if you like but you have 60 miles of two lane road and about an hour and 15 minutes - at best - each way just to get the the GC. Then you get to get in line to get in each time.

Trailer Village was full the third weed in March and we stayed just outside the gate in Grand Canyon RV Park. Nothing special but close to the park, make sure you take along good walking/hiking shoes and enjoy.
