hi, not sure that i'm asking this in the right place but here i go. I have a 2004 sprinter by keystone ( 29 ft.--5th wheel ) I have been living in it for 2 years without any problems & then all of a sudden my toilet backs up & clogs up. I dump the tank but no help, still clogged. I buy a snake & run it though the commode but no help, I put chemicals in it to dissolve the clog & it clears, 2 days later its back. this has been a continuing problem for a couple of months now. I have one of those systems to flush out the tank, the tank seems to be empty but the toilet is clogged up & full of sewage. Can someone tell me about how long the pipe is that runs from the toilet to the tank ( it doesn't drop straight down ) & is there some sort of vale or anything that could be causing this problem. Thanks

Seriously, are you saying that the tank wasn't really cleared and that's why it is plugged again in two days? There is the slight chance that the plastic cutout from the installation of the toilet was left inside the tank and is now at the tank outlet, blocking the contents from fully unloading. The only way to find out if that's the case is to have a sewer contractor who has a camera snake take a video picture to find out if that's the problem. If it is, then the next thing you will need to do is figure out how to get it out!

The pipe from the toilet to the black tank is 3 to 4 feet long.

It actually sounds like you MAY have been skimping on water use when flushing and/or dumping when it was not full and/or leaving the black tank OPEN when hooked up to sewer. Any of these things can cause a sludge build up which can turn to rock like solids causing multiple clogs as you describe. Easiest way to fix NOW may be to hire someone with a honey wagon to flush out your tanks and start over making sure you follow proper care for the black tank. Remember it takes a lot of liquid to flush solids across the horizontal surface of your black tank. Good luck / Skip

A honey wagon is a sewer truck or a liquid manure wagon, this is what the farmers used to call it. Sewer/manure smells sweet and honey is sweet. get it??lol.

I think you have the dreaded "poop pyramid" due to insufficient fluids. I ASSUME??? you know enough not to leave the valve open except when dumping or the fluids escape but the solids don't???
Try putting about five gallons of fluids in there, some Aquazyme (by Thetford), let it soak a little, then....if you can access your black tank go underneath and thump quite seriously on the bottom of the tank. After that take a hose inside, and while someone else opens the drain valve run water through it for a while.
I believe you've just got some solids built up that need to be broken down and washed away and it doesn't take long for the pyramid to reach up to the bottom of the down pipe again each time after you ream it out.....The fix, and the avoidance are the same....

I have had this problem!
1. Run your flush system to about 1/2 full. Add water to the stool and use a plunger with the stool valve open. This should clear the first pipe.
2. Now open the drain valve and flush the tank with lots of water.
3. Close the drain valve and add water to the tank. Do this until water starts up into the stool. Open the drain valve. You are looking for a surge to help clear the clog. Repeat this several times.
4. If this fails you may have to call a repairman.
