He needs to talk to rv.net members......I'm sure they know better.....

I guess I do not understand high finance.
I think I would rather take the advice of Mr Buffet than some-one who may be upside down on a thirty thousand dollar RV.

General statement, not pointing fingers at any poster.

Tongue-in-cheek statement on my part.

Warren Buffett seems to be a bit richer and a bit smarter than I am. His advice might be worth a very serious look. I wouldn't take it as the "Word From On High", because anyone can be wrong, but a serious consideration, yeah. He's definitely a player.

What I took from the article was:

1) We are in for some uncomfortable times
2) Buffet will continue to invest in good companies as he always has. He's not doing anything different. Which means he expects the recession to end at some point.

So I guess I will continue to put money in my 401K and keep carpooling to work. By my calculations I save $2600 a year in fuel by carpooling. That buys enough gas, even at $4 a gallon, to go most anywhere I want.

PS...I read where non-opec oil producers are upping their crude output and that could lead to a surplus, which will cause oil to come crashing down.

One can hope!

Oil prices will be up and down in the near future - but a good bet will be - UP for the long haul. Warren Buffett makes his money by buying up companies that are ripe for the picking - and a long entrenched recession plays right into his hands. He's no fool and he knows from which he speaks. At this stage in his life, it is still an interesting challenge for him. His legacy is probably what counts most for him now.

He said he will continue to invest in good companies. What makes you think those good companies are American ones? .......just a question. These elites don't look at the finance world with any loyalty to any particular flag or country, it's about the bottom line....period. The Euro is looking pretty strong compared to a Federal Reserve Debt note in the USA and so are some Asian currencies. Look out for the Amero.

I saw Warren Buffet interviewed a couple weeks ago.

You are correct, he is now investing heavily outside N America.
He was talking in particular about a large funiture manufacturing operation in China that he has purchased.

I don't really care anymore. I have an income for life and don't really have to go anywhere.
