We're headed to Destin in about 3-4 weeks and I'm already trying not to be wigged out about the snakes. Here's my big question though:

Do you know if they will allow us to put out our son's baby pool? It's about 4ft wide and 8 inches deep. Christian is very mentally handicapped and even though he is 13yo, he dearly loves to splash around in about 4 inches of water. I know we can haul him down to the pool or over to the beach, but it would be so delightful if he could entertain himself in the baby pool closer to our TT.

Call the CG for the straight answer. If you need the number PM me. Snakes and gator's are in the CG at night especially in and near the pond on the 70's numbered sites so if the CG allow's for the pool, I'd sure empty it at night.

I see you're in Ga. If your son like's airplanes, PM me.

Happy camping!!! See ya'll down the road!!!

You can put the pool up as long as it's on the concrete pad or approach. Don't worry about the snakes they stay back in the heavy brush. If you don't go looking for them they won't come looking for you. Didn't see any Gators there at all this year back in March. Most importantly have fun....

We go to Topsail occasionally. I know they are there, but we have never seen a snake or gator in that park. We have two photo albums of Topsail. If you like, visit "Our Photos". Have a great trip.

Thanks, ya'll. I never thought about calling them directly.

I talked with the ranger down there. I explained the situation with Christian and assured him that the baby pool is small. He said as long as it is small and fits on the concrete pad it would be okay.

You don't know how much this means to us! Christian is the sweetest thing, but he can't play like other boys. He needs constant supervision and help to do just about anything. But he loves him some baby pool, even though he is almost 5'4" tall. All he wants to do is sit in the pool and pour water on himself. He laughs and flaps his hands, puts his face down in the water and blows bubbles. He can easily entertain himself for an hour this way.

We will take him over to the big pool and to the beach, of course. But it will be nice to be able to set him in his little pool to play for 30 minutes right there by our camper.

Never seen a gator but we did have a 3' Copperhead in our site last year. I was ready to shoot it..I'm from Arkansas and that's what we do here, but apparently not in a FL state park. The ranger took it out in the woods and let it go. That's the first one I've seen in the campgrounds so I don't think it happens too often but I would still keep a watchful eye out.

Should've just got a log or something and finished it off. That way it couldn't come back later, get it your RV and seek revenge.

There are no fire rings in thecamp sites. At least not last year, and I would bet that has not changed.

Course, it was also about 98* when we were there, so we did not miss it-

Yes you can. But, you must bring your own portable fire pit. And the fire must be on the paved area of the site not on the grass....
