We are now at Destin RV Beach Resort in Destin and there are a couple sites open. Last year this same time, the place was full. Destin, while still crowded, seems to be somewhat less so.
For those RVing this weekend--does it seem fewer, more, or about the same where you are compared to 2007?

Just for grins a month and a half ago I was looking at campground availability for this weekend and found (as usual) nothing was available. We don't go NEAR campgrounds on holiday weekends but from that I'd say they're not down around here. I imagine it would be EASY to get a spot on most any RV Parking lot in the area though.

I sat on my deck which faces the hiway through town and there was a steaded traffic flow . Everything from cars, pick ups pulling campers ,boats . I think everyone that had plans went ahead and bite the bullet put fuel in there toys and left for there 3 day weekend. Lets what and see what happens for the 4 of July and Labor Day weekend. I know we have a trip planned for weekend in July were still going throught with it .

The Mt. Rushmore/ Hill City KOA, where I currently sit, is only 1/3 full! We only share the wooded area with 3 other rv's! It's kinda nice!

We're in southern Utah. National Park/Monument campgrounds have been full (we've been boondocking on BLM and forest land ), some private campgrounds have been fairly empty , others (nicer ones ) have been almost full. Saw a lot of rentals , which we think are European vacationers. Not very much traffic. People seem to be staying put once they get to their campsites.

Nothing to be had here in the northwest corner of WA...for that matter, just checked several of our state parks while setting up our August "getaway". All our state parks are booked until the end of September. A few week days are still open but the weekends are booked! Never thought I would need to book a year or more in advance! As far as the holiday weekends, I don't mind staying home either!

Guntersville State Park in Alabama was full on Wednesday. NOTHING was left! We stayed home and just went out in the boat on the TN
River. Not much going on out there either..most were just anchored.

Local traffic....

I drove form Huntington Beach, CA to Northridge, CA yesterday (about 100 miles round) Via the 405 Freeway. This is normally a very heavy traffic area, especially in the LAX, Santa Monica, and Westwood areas. I was surprised as I was able to maintain maximum speed limits or more the entire trip, both ways. The North bound trip started around 0830 hrs. with the return at about 1500 hrs. Those of you that are familiar with this route, I think would agree that this is rather unusual.

Perhaps folks were already at their destinations. I guess Monday evening will be the real test.

See you out there,

Robert

We're full at Canyon Lake, Texas. Had 1 cancellation due to the man's wife getting sick. Filled right up. My friend is the office mgr. and she's keeping me posted. She said that people just pull in and say "Where do you want me to park?" , thinking they can just pull right in without a reservation.

We went out to eat at the Texas Roadhouse Cafe - a LARGE chain steak house and it was CRAMMED and a L-O-O-O-N-N-N-G line out the door. So much for recession. God Bless America!
