It's OK but nothing spectacular. I had no complaints. Are you just passing through or are you visiting here for a while? I might be able to suggest others.

We have fond memories of Campus RV Park in Independence, Kansas. We were there a few years ago and even though it is a small park, the attitude of the owners/managers and the quality of service given to us new RVer's was so good that I made a promise to my wife that if we were ever in that area again we would stay there. We haven't done it yet but still plan to do so. If you decide not to go to Basswood, I highly recommend this park.
I'm from KC originally, and visit family and eat lots of BBQ once or twice a year. My brother still lives there and has a DP. I have never stayed at Basswood, as he said it was nothing special. Not having been there, I cannot confirm this for you.
We always camp at Weston Bend SP, on the MO river between Weston and Beverly, not far from Basswood. It is close to where we grew up in KC "north of the river." Small campground, electric only I believe, but we have always enjoyed staying there. It is a nice "camping" experience as opposed to the "RV resort" experience. Here is the link:
If you are going to KC to see some sights and would rather be closer to town, I have heard good things about Worlds of Fun Village. It is adjacent to an amusement park and water park and is also "north of the river." It would be a different experience than the state park, of course. Here is the link:
Depending on where you want to be, Jackson County Parks and Recreation have 3 nice campground and some have some full hookups. I usually stay at Blue Springs lake Campground Which is off I 479 just off I 70 in Independence. (816) 503-4800 can get you to info and reservations. They are very nice and well maintained.

I live near by Basswood. I have driven through the park and it definitely is nothing spectacular.
I have stayed at Weston Bend, and as the above post suggested, IMO it is much nicer and I will stay there again.
