I think it depends on how many stops you make, whether you want to tour along the way, and the mileage difference of the various routes.
I suspect the easiest way would be through Birmingham (probably I-75 to Atlanta, then I-20 to Birmingham, then I-78 to Memphis,
OR you can take
I-75 to I-10 west of Jacksonville, continuing on I-10 to Gulfport, US-49 to Jackson, then I-55 to Memphis.
Go to maps.google.com, enter start and end cities and see what it gives. Just a thought.

I-10 from Atlanta to Birmingham is rough. Take I-75 to I-10. I-10 to 231. 231 into Dothan and on to Montgomery where you pickup I-65. I-65 to highway 78 in Birmingham and on to Memphis. It's about a 16 hour drive, at least it was when I did it at 70 mph. Add some to that if you drive slower.

Stever38,
I think fireman50 means I-20 from Atlanta to Birmingham. I fully agree with his recommended route: I-10 to 231 to I-65 to 78.
Hope this helps, good luck!
