Can you mount a 5th wheel hitch in a bed that has a plastic bed liner in it?
Thanks, Racfan9

Hi. Its Not a good idea, the liner will flatten out and you will have loose rails. Put the Hitch in first and cut out the liner to go around it if you want the liner.

What Dale said!
DO NOT install a 5th wheel hitch over a plastic "drop-in" bedliner.

Not if you want to keep your fiver hitched up. The plastic prevents the hitch from being secured tightly to the bed of the truck. Eventually the hitch will loosen and the bolts will rip out of the bed. Then you will watch your fiver go into the ditch, or worse.
Lose the plastic bed liner. You can have a spray-in liner and make that work.

Here's what Reese say about it;
Can I install over a bed liner?
Do not install mounting rails over plastic bed liners. Plastic bed liners must be cut out of the way. Base rails may be installed on spray in liner. Note: Consult installer for recommended curing time.

No. The very experienced hitch guy we used said don't do it.
We got a spray in bed liner, then installed the hitch and it works great.

I did it for years without problems,when you tighten the hitch rails down it flattens the bedliner down as thin as a gasket.Never had the bolts get loose.I have herd it is illegal in Canada.

I would not do it. Most hitch manufactures advise against it. Just because a few have dodged the bullet does not mean it is wise. You know that 4 way stop at the end of your road. You probably could run the intersection without stopping for a couple years and never have a problem.
Sorry I did not notice that Fuzzy was cutting out for the rails. That would be OK but I noticed some others said it was OK to mount directly over the bed liner. That is not OK. I picked the wrong post to quote.

With a Superglide with the removeable rails you can have a bedliner in your truck. The pins for mounting the superails into the bed of your truck come in different lengths depending on you application.
