anyone had any experience with a company on the internet named "www.dieselsecret.com", which claims to have a system to use vegetable cooking oil as alternative diesel fuel source. the claim is that the cost of their product, system and additives amount to about 45 cents a gallon. are there any other "tried and tested" sources for alternative cheap diesel fuel.
would appreciate any input..... john wells

I have no experience with this company, whose high-priced mouse milk seems unlikely to be up to the task, but a search on "biodiesel" will give you hours of reading on the subject. Yes, there are other "tried and tested" ways of converting vegetable oil into diesel fuel. There are companies in the business of collecting waste oil from places like fast food restaurants and converting it. There is also a thriving industry of stealing the oil before the collectors can buy it.
Now you can have the aroma of french fries without the calories.

This product has nothing to do with real biodiesel fuel. That is the methyl ester of the fatty acids in animal or vegetable oil.
This is something entirely different. I doubt if it works as described. Give it a try and let us all know your results.
I'm free of prostate cancer for 5 years now.
All men over age 50 should get an annual PSA blood test. Mine had a low reading, but the yearly jump was significant. The biopsy showed cancer just entering the aggressive stage. Dr. Hackenslash removed it.

Hours of reading available on the topic. Just google biodiesel. Things to keep in mind, warranty if applicable, road taxes and components, i.e. fuel hoses, that will have to be replaced as biodiesel will eat through regular rubber hoses.

I know someone who uses the vegetable oil for fuel. He converted his diesel truck. I believe he has to use regular diesel for the first few miles and then hits a switch that changes over to the veg oil. He gets his oil from a restaurant that saves it for him. He has to filter it first. Really works....

The difference as described in their website is that they don't saponify the oils, but just filter them and add their magic "catalyst". In one sentence they say it isn't biodiesel, a few lines down it is "really a true Bio-diesel".
Whatever, it is surely a scheme to put money into Sunset, LA.

It is quite possible to run a diesel on SVO (straight vegetable oil). Problems are filtering, gelling at low temperatures and hard starting unless you use regular diesel. I know people who do it, but only for smaller vehicles and only around town.
Biggest problem? Where are you going to get hundreds of gallons on the road without spending most of your time looking for it?

With diesel prices being high the available sources of cheap veg oils are already being grabbed up. There is a finite supply and a huge demand. Ask the manager of your the local fast food restaurant how many times a week he is asked for his used fryer oil.
