Several weeks ago, I very nearly pulled the trigger on a Jayco 19h. But something caught my eye on the other side of the lot. I walked over and saw it was a toy hauler with its ramp propped up like a patio and a tent covering over it. Inside, the main body of the toy hauler was seperated from the tent room on the ramp by a nylon wall. I was floored. It was almost like a hybrid, but with the ability to carry my bicycles easily. Have any of you decided to go the toy hauler route? What would be the disadvantages?

It was a 17 ft Blast with an aftermarket awning. But just found this on the TH section. Will lurk there for a while.

We agree!
We to have decided our next trailer will be a toy hauler.
We ride motorcycles, so it is perfect for us.

why not get a hybrid with a deck for hauling? such as made by KZ Rock Climber, Roo/Shamrock 232 or Kodiak/Cub 314?
the blast will have the floor space taken up by the bed and the bikes.
with a hybrid toy hauler you'll get the benefits of both.

We have a Hybrid Toy Hauler - Wanderer Wagon by Thor California. However, they don't make them anymore. We have a king bed in the hybrid front, and lots of room for toys in the back. Dh's 18ft Kayak even fits in the back! It's a killer design - just watch for Leaks if you find one.

We carry our two adult bikes on a rack in the front of our tow vehicle. I wouldn't want to buy a toy hauler just for bikes unless they are of the noisy variety.

We also have a hybrid Wanderer toyhauler. We love it. Front pops out for queen (king?) bed. Rear ramp can indeed be kept level with a room on it. We also have the rear door you describe. Ramp room was an option when we bought ours in 2003. Haven't looked to see if Thor of Calif still makes one, although above poster says no.
No leaks yet in ours after over 40,000 miles.

You need to weigh what you want to use it for. We have a hybrid that is 6 years old and always talk about getting a toy hauler for water storage, less noise when sleeping, no condensation, storage for fishing gear and generator built in. The flip side is that our hybrid is much lighter and gas isn't getting any cheaper. The ability to open ends in the heat and cool the trailer off. Size we get a 24 ft trailer in a 19 ft package. I have looked at the hybrid toy haulers and they are cool. We didn't like the idea of having our toys left in the front rack when vacationing for long periods time. It just didn't seem as safe as having a back area that can be closed up. There is bound to be something to meet your needs.

The wife hates the smell of gas and oil, so a inclosed toy hauler was out of the question. I can haul two four wheelers on the front of my Travel Star, it's light, and I love it.
