This is a small town Mark, less than 1000 residents and the dealer was closed. However, had the truck been towed to the dealer, Steve or Bob (Ford dealer)would have been notified that day(Sun) that the truck was there and Steve said he could have started on it at 8 Tuesday morning instead of waiting until Tue afternoon to get to it. Don't forget it was after 10 Tuesday, by the time the tow truck even got to the CG.

We've always had Good Sam and really never had a problem except the last time we needed them. The first person we talked to was no help. He said I'll call you back and check if we can get anyone out to you. We waited and waited and finally we ended up calling GS back. Thank goodness we weren't in the boonies. When we got home I switched to Coach net.

Texan,
That was why I made the comment that if you have a towing rider on your regular automotive insurance, then there is more than on way to "skin a cat." Everyone should know what their automotive insurance covers, just in case your emergency road service lets you down. The wrecker could have been called and paid in person, or added to the bill, either way your automotive insurance would have covered some or all of that bill. Thanks for clearing up the dealer issue.

We have Coachnet. Got to a campground in Louisiana on a Sunday to meet friends. Truck broke down in the campsite while still hooked to the fiver. Coachnet had no problem coming and pulling the truck out from under the 5er so we could set up, and to the closest Dodge dealer with a diesel mechanic over 40 miles away. Called the dealer first thing Monday morning and told him the situation...truck was fixed by Thursday.

Coachnet never even blinked about coming out...Sunday or not! "Emergency" or not!

The issue seems to be all repair places were closed due to the holiday. There was no urgency to tow vehicle to closed location. In the end there is hair splitting that the TV was not at the dealership at 8 A.M. sharp. vs. at the campground at 10:00. Either way the TV was at the shop for repairs early on the next day. Basically the TV broke down in a small closed town on the Holiday. Yes there was some inconvenience and TV owner may have missed work. but I don't see Good Sam at fault or negligent in this situation. TV broke down during the holiday when all shops were closed end of story.

From what I understand the towing co. refused to take the TV from secured campground and drop it off on the street at closed dealership for the weekend?
Sounds like smart move to me.

And now they have found another way, to not provide what you pay for.

I plead guilty to not reading every single post in this thread, but I got a shock today.

I called 800-947-0770 and worked my way through the press 1 or press 2 maze. My wife had a flat a couple of blocks away, so I put my lightweight air tank in the truck, inflated the tire and got her off the streets.

I called and was told Goofy Sam would send someone to put her spare tire on, but I would have to pay for it. I am NOT in an emergency status, so I am not too unhappy about that, but I asked them about my RV. I told them my RV is sitting next to the house, what if the 22.5 tires went bad while sitting there. I am disabled and can't lift a 100 pound+
tire. Same thing, even on my RV. If it is not an emergency, they don't pay for it.

Since the card plainly says EMERGENCY ROAD SERVICE, and it refers to roadside assistance dispatch --- having a car in my yard does not qualify. Fine. After reading some of these posts, it makes me wonder if they pay for your tire change if you are on the side of the road?
OR do they send a repairman out, he changes it and you pay him. I guess I am wondering what other "gotcha" clauses goofy sam has in the contract. Guess I had better read it closely.

BTW, it is a 2007 Toyota Prius and our Toyota dealership said to bring it in, they would fix it for free. That is Folsom Lake Toyota and it is a Saturday afternoon. WOW. We have bought 3 Toyotas there, but I never expected a free tire repair.

I called Good Sam Roadside assistance today for a flat. I was on hold for 30 minutes. I was afraid my battery would die before I got a response. When I did get a response the lady took all of my info. and said she would call me 'right back' with info. on the co. that would be coming out and ETA. She never called back. An hour later I called again and was on hold for 20 minutes. This lady didn't want to know about the forst debacle, but did get a tire co. out to do the job.
The guy said that G.S. had changed their service co. in January and that the new co. is having a lot of 'teething problems'. I will not be renewing with them.
