I love my piece of junk , and that goes for my trailer, too. I paid cash for everything, and paying $2,000 for a $299 generator just seems silly. I show consideration for my neighbors by not having any--I boondock and use the generator every trip.

Plus one.
Don`t all ways boon dock but my Meger 3000 was 725.00 and close to 100 pounds lighter than Honda. Same DB 27 .So why spend another what ever to get a red one that weights more and cost twice as much. But to me I believe in no bills no worry's. If things got real bad we could live in our trailer that is paid for. Yellow is fine with me. Starts every time and pulls A/C and what we run fine.
And yes it is a sign wave with fuel saver and low oil shut down. Honda is not and American company so why send more money over seas than you have to.IMHO

I show consideration for my neighbors too by using a super quiet generator, the Honda eu3000is. I even run it beyound CG quiet hours, sometimes all night long, on ECO Throttle. I keep it locked up in the bed of my truck, you can't hear it beyound my campsite, in fact, you can barely hear it anywhere in the campsite! I haven't had one complaint but would turn it off if asked! In my opinion, $1700 is well worth being able to run a generator, and have power all the time.
YZCHARLIE wrote: Since 90% of the camping we do is boondocking we justify a Honda EU3000 very easily. Convenience of being able to run AC, micro, shop vac etc...as well as charge my batteries.
TPLynch, I have to ask: How does running a generator after quiet hours show consideration for your neighbors? I think there's a reality disconnect there.

My business has a driveway sump pump that can fail and needs a back up and back up power to prevent flooding.
I maintain the generator by taking it camping.

Plus 1
Our 725 dollar one is same DB or noise level as Honda but would not and do not run it at quite times.
I Looked long and hard, listened to others, talked with owners, and finally , about 3 years ago, I bought my EU3000is, and have never looked back.
I have the freedom to camp where ever I want, and not disturb any one, if anyone is close (not very often)as I have hundreds (thousands really) of acres to choose from up here.
It sits bolted into the bed of my truck, and you really have to be on top of the truck, to even hear it. I have had people walk up to it, (after a night in a Parking lot) Cabellas, etc..., and look at it, ask me about it, they can't figure where I am getting my power, till they see it.
I love it, and the cost for a Quality Gen, while not cheap, will repay in reliability.
