Thanks for all the positive comments. First there is no way I did all this by myself. The big shop that you see in the pics belongs to my best friend Adrian....with out his help this would never had happened. We both have lots of skills, and most importantly lots of power tools. Building something like this without a big shop would be difficult to say the least. It had no roof for a several months. Is it rated to handle the weight? The factory springs were rated at 3600# per side according to my research. I replaced them with 4400# springs and air bags. That is an extra 1600# just with the springs. It only has a 350 engine and will do 65 easily with 2 bikes...it will go faster but the MPG goes down quick. After I figured out tire and air bag pressures, it handles great...semi's don't bother me at all when they blow by. I am going to weigh it this year with the bikes in it...but it works great so I don't see a problem. I am heading out this month to the 8th bike rally I have taken it to. The first three it went to, it was unpainted and it got the most attention. The Raptor stickers on the back of the old junk motorhome had 'em lined up to see what was up. After I painted it MOST people don't notice it. I would like to thank ScottnSherrie, I got the idea for the curved rafters from a post they had on this site. I have done almost everything that the naysayers say is impossible, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Have a good one...

Have you ever thought about putting a diesel engine in it? Possibly a 12 valve cummins, that would be the easiest, all mechanical. Then again with diesel fuel the way it is I guess it might not be worth it. By the way that thing turned out awesome. You and your buddy DEFINITLY have skills!

Congratulations on a job well-done! Very cool!
Looking for any information available on Del Rey "Sky Lounge" and Kamp King slide-ins for preservation/restoration projects.

Great timing to see your inspirational tranformation. Over the last 28 years or so my rig has had modifications come and go. First thing I did was cut off the metal sliding step.It was making annoying racket.Previous owner (PO) claimed it would rattle a while then quit. He had been driving it back and forth to Idaho. We took it down to Oregon and must not have far enough.Pulled into Ike Kinswa state park on the way back. Did this amputation in campsite 16. Lakefront record deep rains that weekend no other campers.
Side note this campsite is generally solidly reserved a year in advance.Sort of the whole idea of getting a tin can with windows was to get out rain or drizzle.Predict the weather by Mount Rainier if we can't see the mountain it's raining, if we can see it, it's going to rain.
Notice part of the renovation was that shining aluminum with the bumps (think are called deformations)on that obnoxious little pull out step. This same good looking shiny stuff is on the univariate skinny little side door. Not particularly fond of that puny box step hanging down lower than the floor either.
Had to duck tape the rubber feet back on to my step stool that has served as a replacement.Believe I'll have to grab my tape measure head out probably just over to Riverbend camp Ground over on the Nisqually River.Brain storm some sort of slide out combination deck and ramp/chicken ladder first thing in the morning.
Thanks,
Jim
