Hub, does that mean I can get by with the Cheaper 20amp parallel kit and just change the end to a 30amp female?

Not change the end, but rather cut the cable in two and use the cut ends to wire to a 30 amp outlet.
Here's a link with pictures: DIY paralleling setup

Exactly like this one... I used a Outdoor junction box and a 30amp RV plug from Lowes (like 8 bucks for bothparts) and the honda cable.

There are many many ways to accomplish the same reult as the $200+ gentran box. You can also parallel across the regular outlets.

I will try to find my pamplet that came with the cables and scan it to show what Honda says. If you cannot draw from both gens through one outlet what is the point of paralleling them with honda's cable?

You can also find a huge amount of info on these and other mods like ecxtended run gas tanks here.... http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Honda_EU2000_Generators/

Honda's cable makes sense for paralleling a pair of EU1000's, which is what it was originally sold for. The two of them only produce 16.7 amps maximum, so there's no problem drawing that from a 20 amp outlet. Yes, I see that they now label it for the EU2000 also, but I am curious how they get past the excessive draw potential of feeding 26+ amps to a 20 amp outlet.

My concern is not 26+ amps to a 20 amp outlet, but the suitablity (guage) of wire used. Is it heavy enough to take the juice?

A 20 amp breaker protects the outlet, limiting it to 20 amps max. If you want to get more current from the twins, you have to use the banana jacks feeding an added outlet. (In reality you can use the outlets on each generator with 'suicide plugs' but I want to avoid rekindling that debate).

I thinking of getting a 2000i for dry camping. I have a PUP and would only use it to recharge the battery and maybe run a fan during the day. I know that's probably overkill.

But I figure I could use it also at home for emergency power during outages to run the fridge and perhaps the TV.

I assume the 2000i can handle these tasks?

Yes, it can, quite nicely. And run a couple of fans for ventilation, and even your microwave or coffee pot. Count up wattage of things you want to run. When you get to 1600, stop.

OK, now the hard part. Where do I buy it? Virginia is running a "Hurracane Preparadness Tax Relief" sale thru Saturday. No sales tax on generators costing less than $1,000. Northern Tool & Equipt will knock off $50 if I open an account with them. That makes the net cost $949.00. Anybody do better? keep in mind, "net". (shipping, handling & taxes)

I'd check with Mayberry's. I've bought a couple of Hondas from them. They have been very competitive in price and service is great. They don't seem to post prices on their web site; you have to call them.
I'm wary of those $50 off for opening an account deals. You're actually making a credit application and getting a new credit card, so your FICO rating will take a ding. How much depends on how good it is to start with -- the poorer, the less effect.
