I went a little long on filling my black tank yesterday using a flush king and apparently overfilled the tank a lot of water came out from under the camper on the side of the tank while filling and the tank was very pressurized when I opened up the valve. Problem is I can find where the water was coming out from. The stool pipe and the vent stack run through the basement and it is dry. I also cannot figure out how the tank could have built pressure unless my vent pipe is clogged. Any way I think I might have split the tank on top so I want to remove it to check. It appears to me all the plumbing is solid. So am I going to have to cut all the lines then use couplers to reinstall? If anyone has removed a black tank what am I in for?

Replaced a black tank last year. A lot of work. Need to cut vent and stand pipe to be able to drop old tank. If you need to replace the tank, you will have to remove the toilet. The new tank has to have all the holes and sensors drilled or cut in, new flanges glued on. Connection to the old pipes can be glued back together or use the compression sleeves. So make sure the tank is bad before going to all this work. GOOD LUCK!!!!

I also broke the black tank, on a previous unit, with the flush king. If there is "stuff" in the tank, as it fills with water that stuff will float and clog the vent pipe. Pressure will build and the tank will break. The break is probably where the exit pipe is molded to the tank. That's where ours broke.
Replacing it is not difficult, cutting the old one out is easy. Before you start glueing the new one in, think it through. Maybe even fit it together before you glue it so you can discover any problems.
The new tank I bought had all sensors already installed, but i had cut the holes for the vent and toilet pipes and add a rubber grommit that I found at ppl motorhomes to fit those pipes to the tank.

Well is there anything I can put into the tank to clean it prior to taking it apart to kill or neutralize the odor?
