I just purchased my first 5th Wheel (used). While lowering my landing gear for my first trip, the motor stopped working. My wife initially had lowered the unit. When she realized she needed to go the other way, the motor would not work. It made no sound. I had to use the manual procedure to raise and lower the landing gear. It had worked perfectly prior to this and never gave any sign of problems. I checked all my fuses and none were bad. Has anyone ever experienced this before?

Both fivers I've owned had a separate inline fuse in the wiring for the leg motor, not using any of the fuses in the panel. Did you find one there too and it's good?

I took a brief look and did not see any. I need to take a close look? Where should I start?

Look close to the battery. Had the same thing happen to me with my first fiver, I found the fuse going to positive side of the battery about 12 inches from the positive post on the hot wire going to the gear motor. I would think it would be somewhere between the battery and the motor. Good luck

Mine is a circuit breaker close to the battery. Doesn't really look like a circuit breaker but it has a large wire from the battery and another going to the motor. There is a button on the back to reset.

dbbls has described the later/newer "most common install", a small aluminum breaker fastened to a bulkhead somewhere close to the batteries. It resembles the old headlight breakers of pre-computer cars. It may have a small round black plastic button you can push in to reset. The inline fuse holders are still in use also.

One other thing for JFJ -- if you find it is a blown fuse. When changing directions with the switch, make sure you let the motor stop before switching to the other direction. If you switch too fast, this will frequently blow the fuse.
