We were out with our trailer and it tows like a dream except when we have cross wind. I had the Reese dual cam ordered but it didn't fit on my bars. I have the old style WD bars so I ordered the new kit and it will be in in 7 to 10 days. Will it take care of the side wind and the minimal effect that the transport trucks is giving us now or is it normal to feel that when you are towing a 30 foot trailer?
To be quite honest we tow 2-3 trips a year and the rest of the year it's on a seasonal site and it tows beautifully now but for the price of the dual cam why not,if it makes a difference on the above questions.
Some motion in cross winds or when being passed by a truck with a large speed differential is normal for soft sprung tow vehicles like most SUVs are. I wouldn't worry much about it as long as it tows well. If you don't already have them using truck tires will help some and inflating all tires on both trailer and tow vehicle to maximum is a must. Good luck / Skip
If you are towing a 30' trailer with a 119" wheel base Durango I am surprised you only get minimal sway.Your ideal optimum length should be 25' or less and the least amount of weight swinging around behind you like a pendulum the better. The electronic stability program feature will help in a severe case but by then I think control problems are becoming secondary and functional air bags a priority.By all means do what ever can be done and stay off ice.Are you pulling a Salem 30BHBS,it is over 34' long and dry weight of 7200 lbs.The 5.7 hemi with 3.92 axles is only rated for 8200 lbs.Be safe and carefull.

IMO the sway control will make a huge difference, which you hopefully never feel.

I have the Timbren suspension helper , bilsten shocks and I am surprised as well on how well it tows.
I do no go over 55mph. We are on vacation and my vehicle is rated at 8700-8950lbs depending on where you look. I am very aware of the wheel base of my vehicle and it was my biggest fear but we just drove 300miles and the last 50 miles we got 20mph wind and it wasn't bad at all. The new Durango well equipped with the right tires and inflated to the max works very well. A lot of you have given me those tips in the past and THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I wouldn't say the same if I wouldn't of added new tires, shocks and the Timbren's. The Durango has the frame of a 1500 Ram with a 3rd cross brace that makes it very solid.
Our goal is to upgrade our tow vehicle obviously but money interior room is a factor for now with the car seat but it's coming. The new upgrade will be a Tundra Crew Max. Thanks anyoldtime for all your help in the past...It was obviously very helpful.
