I have an 08 Jayco Jayflight G2 29BHS. In the tub wall enclosure there is a gap at top by wall and at bottom where enclosure meets tub. I am worried about water getting behind wall and causing damage, mold etc. Why wasn't this caulked at factory? Should I caulk both of these seams? If so, what type of cauling? Thanks.

No. It is that way by design. If you caulk it you take the chance of trapping moisture... condensation, etc. behind it. It will be fine the way it is... unless you spill/splash water down the wall at the top.

The top should be sealed with an adhesive from the factory but in the heat of the summer ours let's loose and I have to press it back. As for the bottom, it is not sealed as it allows condensation to drain. There is a lip that runs up an inch or two that prevents water from getting back there.

I was wondering the same thing about our new Jayco. I saw a thread here before, where most folks suggested that it is fine as-is. I have not caulked mine.

I tried pressing it back in place too and it won't stick.

The other problem with caulking is that depending on the temp inside the trailer you may find that the caulk won't stay sealed. If you've every noticed the ABS tightens and loosens depending on the temp. Don't try and tack it down anymore than what the factory has already done or you might find it damaging itself when it tightens up again.

I have a 08 jayco as well. Left it with my dealer for ten days and he did not fix the problem He said this gap at the top was normal and he could not fix it.Also the plastic rivets are not tight to the wall either. I called Jayco on 6/17/08 and was advised this was not normal and I am waiting to see what they will do about it. I will post when I get a answer from Jayco

oops, I caulked the top and bottom before the tub/shower was ever used. I guess if it's sealed from the get go, there shouldn't be any moisture back there.

I was just wondering if anybody knows what the name of the manufacture of the tub surround in a jayco travel trailer. Would be interesting to know how they recommend to install the surround. If it was installed correctly it should not come off so easy.
