Probably need to look at the Outer Banks, or Atlantic Beach. Travel Park.

You could give Ocean Waves Campground down on Hatteras Island, give Carolyn a call and see if they have any sites open for the time frame you are looking for. They are normally booked, but with gas prices and beach access restrictions they have had a few cancelations. I just left there the other day!!

NCBounder: In a nutshell, the DOW, SELC, and the Audubon Society filed a lawsuit on the National Park Service and the US Dept of Interior and effectively was able to close a LARGE section of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore to humans and ORVs WITHOUT public opinion. All to protect birds that are as common as crows.

I could rant all day about this, but you should be able to find all the information you need at http://www.savehatteras.com and http://www.islandfreepress.org

Thanks for the info. My son will be at Camp Hatteras in about 3 weeks. Looks like some of the ramps south of Waves are still open with several miles of beaches open. Most of the new closures are around Cape Point.

The link above for Islandfreepress.org is a great place to get info on the beach closures, they keep things up to date on that site...
