Is there a site on the Internet that gives the location of truck stops and service stations that sell diesel and are RV friendly (easy in - easy out)?
Going west from Austin, TX to the Lake Tahoe area, and don't have an extra tank, so i need to plan my fuel purchases in advance.

I had the same problem, before I changed out my 26 gal tank for one that has 46 gal cap.
Before that I had two, 5 gal, yellow diesel containers to take the worry out of doing so much planning. If you're towing mpg is around 10 or 11, the 10 gals will give you about a 100 extra miles.
Before I changed out my tank, I figured that I had a max range of 250 miles and always planned accordingly.

Truck came with a standard 34 gallon tank and I have an extra 114 gallon tank I mount for long trips. More fuel than butt/bladder. Works at my house.

Check out The Next Exit. It doesn't come right out and say "easy in, easy out". But you can pretty much surmise by reading what's located at that exit if it's just a small gas station or a large complex.

I am in the same boat as you (making a long trip without a auxiliary tank) and I have found gasbuddy.com to be a good source, just put in a city and see the prices. Also if you know the zip code MSN has a good gas price look up (just select diesel on both of them to get the diesel stations). I have found it also helps with where to fill up. A city about 25 miles closer or further away may be $.25 less a gallon. The next exit looks like a good book too, we have a Wal Mart Locater book which we find useful, so we know where we can crash for the night, they also have which wal marts have diesel at them. We have a GPS unit though which has come in very handy for this type of thing too. We picked it up for just over $200, they have actually become pretty reasonable.

We always use "The Next Exit" on our roadtrips even when we aren't towing. They show RV Friendly stations, restaurants in Red. Plus it lets us know which exit the Rest Areas are near and which side of he Interstate. Doesn't work for the backroads, but does help in preplanning.

Google maps will pull up gas stations for you with a handy map. They won't tell you if they carry diesel, but most stations in the West do and you can guess by the name and size of the stop.
